公文數教學模式好不好?

本人女兒由七月開始學習公文數, 一直都是做A4, 每次上堂拿回家的功課差不多, 她的興趣開始下降, 也做得馬虎
請問你們有否我的經驗,會堅持給女兒學下去,因我想轉學珠心算

My son is 5 yrs old, now is K3 student, he study kumon on last summer holiday, he very interest start from begining, but when he do the exercise is repeat & repeat, he need push right now. His progress is very slowly and last mth testing is failed. I want to stop it but my son said

公文太死板！一定要在指定時間完成才可升班！我的兒子學了約1年越做越悶！現轉往「學林數學」，多元化和生動有趣兼有老師講解，我的兒子對數學興趣大增！但亦要看個別小朋友的個性來決定！

Hi Mingo,

I'm very interested at the 「學林數學」，would you please share more with us? My kid is poor at logic, now is studying kumon. Before he has tried the 珠心算and 速算, I found all of them can't help so much.

How old is your son? Would a 6-yr-old kid be suitable for 「學林數學」? How does it work?

In the bookshop, it's quite easy to find the exercise issued by 「學林數學」, would it be the same as the material used in the course?

Hi Leeleelumlum,

You may check the website or make a call to their  centre for information. You may also go to the nearest centre to have some worksheets. I personally feel that the course is comprehensive and quite close to the syllabus of any Government or Subsidy School in Hong Kong. At least, the course  would train the student  at all direction of mathematics including how to read the clock, how to find a solution to something(解難) and do the arithmetics.

My son has studied in Kumon for one year and he is 5 yrs 11 mtns now but we have decided to quitted since last month because we found the maths they are now doing did not help him much but just make him feel boring.  Though he said "no" when we discuss with him for stop of taking Kumon but we still put a full stop on as we think boring exercise won't help kids to develope their interest or make any improvement! Though he can finish all his homeworks within the time set but when he cannot achieve the same during the accessment, he has to repeat the whole course again which really frustrated both the kid and us, so  It's time for us to consider other method.

我們有同樣疑問, 我囡囡剛 5 歲,
學了  公文數教學 四個半月 (5A 開始)
仍是 3A, 看見重覆 重覆 做 +3, -3,,,,

不知轉那個課程較好

反而 公文英文 及 中文(普通話)
就進度很好
英文=11個月 (2A 開始)
中文=5個半月 (4A 開始)

Dear Moms

My girl is 4 and I want to find a course on mahts for her and still thinking of kumon or abacus. I don't buy the kumon as I also think it is very boring , but my nephew who is now 10 learned kumon when he was K3 and is now P5, he got the highest marks among all students in his school in his last exam, it seems his result is very good and my sister told me that he is now studying F2 maths and the center think he can complete F5 level when he is F3.


I am still hesitating on which kind of course is suitable for my daughter so I want  to know more on other course.

我沒有比我囝囝學公文數, 而去咗學學林數學. 我都覺得學林數學唔錯, 同學校課程接近, 因為上之前, 佢會叫你比阿仔本數學書佢影印index, 佢地會跟住學校既課程進度來教. 而且老師都係1對3, 比既功課亦好多原化, 亦有不少思考題or iq題. 到test時亦有d佢地既test paper比佢地pactice, test paper入面會有好多唔同既題目, 比平時既更多唔同類形.

好似初初阿仔都幾怕思考題, iq 題, 宜家反而越做越有興趣, 佢地d既解題亦好清晰(好多時用圖去解比小朋友睇), 令小朋友更容易明白.

My daughter & I was attended the "KWIK maths" free trial class.Their maths teaching method is quite good. I will let my daughter to attend the class.They explained that the 公文數 has many exercise to let the kids to remember the answer, not to teach them how to calculate. 學林數 is not the foundation level for the kids. Hi Thinthinrl,

I'm not going to 'step' Kwik, just share what I feel. I have two kids, only the small one goes to Kwik. He has studied it for several months, it would help calculate (addition, deduction) faster (not yet to multiplication & division). But I find some drawback then:
1. only number, can't help too much on maths in words 文字題
2. will have maths test at the end of each class, it would create some unnecessary pressure to the kids, especially the class is mixed with different level of students (e.g. P3, P2, P1, K3)
3. the children only knows how and when to use their fingers, seems not quite understand the rationale behind (we, adult of course, would understand and know why manipulate fingers in this way). Sometimes, would find that they just take the food which they can't digest.

In fact, it is also very mechanical.

I have called for the testing. Any hints you would give me (about the course, not the test)? How long your kid take it? any effect you can see?
