Why not consider YMCA International if you are going to let your kid to attend international primary school?

My personal experience is that YMCA is very good especially its full day curriculum.

Only know that YMCA has kindergarten, where is its primary school?

YMCA has no primary school. Most of the students from YMCA will go to international primary schools especially those ESF schools.

A lot of students from Think International also enter ESF primary schools this year.

Yes, agree!  For Think Kindergarten, it costs $5900 full day at Kowloon Tong Branch, plus $1xxx of books fee each term, and hundreds for school bus fee, I would say this is not "cheap" for studying in kinder.  It is  cheaper than Yew Chung kinder if we are comparing within Kowloon Tong region.

KCIS is at North Point, completely different region and profile.  It has longer history and is more famous.  Maybe more comparable to the very popular Victoria kinder.

Hello siupunpun and Hong ma,

Your notes are helping me to know more about KCIS.  

At KCIS, I suppose their class teachers are expatriates, that means the students listen and speak English everyday at school.  So aside from Chinese subject where they can speak and listen Mandarin, what other time can they acquire better Mandarin at International Section?  Do you have an idea?

I have visited the International Section of KCIS.  According to their curriculum and time table, they have a Mandarin class (~40 minutes) everyday, and then all the other sessions which are taught by English native speakers are English only.  So I think the use of Mandarin as primary language applies to Main Stream only.

Thanks for your info.  So Mandarin for those students from Int'l Section maynot be so competitive with those at main stream, mm.. but at least they are learning proper Chinese grammar plus correct accent, right?

I've plan to let my BB to go to KCIS kinder , would u mind to tell me how can I visit the school? Do they have open day or I can just call and go to have a look?

My son and daughter are studying in Kiangsu Primary school now in their International Section.  They've learnt very good Mandarin .  The school will devide the students into two groups: Mandarin and Chinese groups.  Mandarin group is for those foreign student who don't know much about Chinese while Chinese group is for those who are local/ have obtained a certain level of Chinese.  The Chinese group is using the same text book of Local Section.  Those in Mandarin group may promote to Chinese group eventually after they've got good result in Mandarin group.   

A western gal, a classmate of my daughter, has gradually been promoted from group 3 in Mandarin Group to group 1 ( the top one ) of Chinese group after 3 years of study.  They are now in P.4.
