年尾出世應否遲一年才讀小學?

我嗰仔今年K3,是細仔,12月尾出世,他可以讀一、二年班的英文textbooks(雖然未必明白晒),但串字就有困難,他認中文字亦一般,寫得亦不太好,我現在頭痛是否應讓他重讀Ｋ３。朋友都說細仔一般都追得很辛苦。有沒有mummy可分享經驗?

Agree. For 資優兒童,  it's a waste to delay one year.

細仔不一定追得辛苦，但比例上追唔上的學生以細仔細女為多。

所以我話無須急，一年的腦部發展對一個6、7歲的小朋友來說是很緊要的。入左小學追唔上要留班又有乜謂呢？留多一年K3，等佢上去做叻仔咪仲好，第一年的成績差，以後的讀書興趣都減晒。

Do not under estimate the ability of your little boy. If his kindergarten teacher said he is ready for the primary than go ahead. Most of my friends who are really smart were borned in December.
My little girl just managed to catch up the last train of year 2000, and she was aceepted by all three DSS school for primary one next year.

Thanks for all your advice.  It is such a pain to make a decision.  If I want to join the central "lucky draw", I have a week to decide.  His father doesn't like the idea of repeating K3 neither do I.  But if he cannot catch up in writing, that will become his nightmare in P1.  But out of this he is doing fine......

Anyway, really thanks for all your advice.

Just curious, which DSS school announce the result so early?  Did you accept  the offer?  If you accept the offer, can you still join the first round of government's  行分配學位

I dont think so.
Its not merely a question of age. Of course, at the earliest infant age, age is a crucial factor for the development of brain, muscles, social ability....etc.
However, the gap between the big kid and the small kid will be bridged later on. Of course, be prepared that if u have a small kid (like mine), u must pay "DOUBLE" effort to help her to keep up to the average esp in P.1 and P.2. But if your kid is so far on or above average, there is no big need to let him/her repeat K3. To repeat may hurt him/her confience as confidence is a very crucial factor in learning.
Just a piece of my own feelings.

贊成.  有d o野免強冇幸福.  如果你覺得你小朋友真係有能力o既, 咪去試下law, 但大抽獎只得一次機會, 及做家長應配合各方面才決定..... just my opinion.

私校直資收就上小一啦
抽籤就no la

repeat k3 小朋友重細, 好過repeat 小學
只要同幼稚園講gor,
叫幼稚園老幫口講兩下, 話佢以後可以做大哥哥就ok
k3同小一時佢超醒, mud信心都返啦

我小朋友都係１２月出生，我就覺得如果repeat就要repeat K2,因為K3學期尾會有表演或畢業禮，到時小朋友知道個個都畢業，而自己就仲要留係幼稚園感覺就唔好啦

我小朋友係１２月出生，我幫他今年 repeat K2, 轉了學校.  他在新學校才 2 weeks, 但見他好開心啊 !
