Victoria vs. Local kindergarten

Hi, i'm in a bit of dilemma now, just received a call from Victoria and they're offering my child a place at their K1-AM session.  How does Victoria compare to local kindergarten?  would it be difficult to integrate back to local stream in primary?  many thanks!

Very happy and clean school! 2 Teachers in the class, Chinese and English, let your kids exploring both languages at the same time. AM class offer sounds very good as well!

I don't think so. They employ a primary school teacher to teach them Chinese every week since k2.  They need to write weekly daily in Chinese and have to practice Chinese writing everyday.

Most important of all, all my kid's classmates I've asked got offerS from local dss and private primary schools!

Victoria is a happy school with excellent language environment. They have more than enough drills but it's all up to you to do it or not. My daughter can read and recognize a lot of Chinese characters (both Cantonese and Mandarin) which she learnt solely in school. She is now in K1 and so far I find it pretty good.

what about 部首，量詞, making sentences and rearranging sentences?

Except rearranging sentence, they do cover all those you mentioned.

I like victoria very much. Except dragon schools, no other local schools are comparable

2nd in完，下康校長話3老師一班，有英、普、粵。K2開始有小學老師教中文。接本地或國際小學無問題。

早前有個朋友給我的advice: 他的女兒是維幼畢業，曾讀DGS小學。他說最好想清楚自己小朋友什麼性格，及想安排她讀什麼小學。他說好兒在維記係讀得好開心，家長要乜俾乜，但入到小學是兩個世界，非常competitive，他的女兒適應了幾年，還是接受不了，所以到外國讀書，現在很好。他的意思是，最好選理念及目標接近的幼稚園涵接小學，因為轉接時衝擊很大。希望幫到你。

前幾日，和一班朋友見面，有些是維幼畢業生。一個在YW拿品學兼優，一個在cndis拿到最佳成績獎……維幼培養學生閱讀興趣和學習熱情做得好好。

我覺得今日的維幼跟幾年前已不同了，據朋友説幾年前很少抄寫，現在幾乎每日也要寫中文字，算是與時並進但又不是傳統那種！

尤其英文是當他們是 native 的教法，並非先學生字，再學 this is a xxx 那種，非常好的。

以用家角度看，維記真係做得好出色！我的大囝現時K3，一班有粵、普、英三個老師長駐一班，語境一流。老師十分關心小朋友，大囝去年的班主任今年還會主動致電問升小及學習情況，感覺窩心。而細囝讀pn，班主任更主動WhatsApp我講細囝表現，這幾天更每日都WhatsApp，完全超出我想像，實在感激維記老師。

My girl is a current Victoria PN student. We didn't even apply any other K1 cuz we love the language environment of Victoria. My girl can communicate well in both languages (she is 2.5 yo now) and we are happy to see her progress in school. She loves schooling and teachers. We still plan to let her study in local schools in P1. But my hubby and I think that good languages and presentation skills are important in P1 interviews.

維幼英文最好果批學生，係native level兼識串字和寫，我女果班包括她在內有幾個，英文默書係老師讀默一句長句，好深，但小朋友就係當玩，無壓力、好開心。而小朋友在英文叻之餘，無犧牲到中文和普通話，一樣好得。

舊年讀完K2，都有幾個同學仔去了IS，都係好學校。

但維記有一樣無其他名幼咁體貼，就係佢無安排小一模擬面試班比同學。

但佢K3有中英默書，吾淺的，另放學後有免費延長班，有d銜接小一課程，做吓各式練習（包括重組句子、作句等），幾好。成日係EK有家長話維記hea，我吾覺得係咁樣，你有小朋友讀吓就知。
