有無人9月仔做超大仔? 可以分享經驗嗎?

9月出生唔大唔太細, 想做大b 讓他準備好些才入小學, 唔想repeat怕對小朋友自信心有影響, 我就諗咁不如一開始就遲一年入學, 從pn開始.  
唔知有無家長是這樣做呢?

You may consider to be Small kid for a year and then Super Big Kid in the following year

Some of the KGs have a cut-off interview month in Oct (e.g. KV)  So you may miss some of the chance if you plan to be super Big B in the first beginning

其實有好多幼稚園都會放超大仔o係SECOND PRIORITY... 除非小朋友真係追唔上.. 我覺得9月仔冇需要做超大仔... 因為真係好大~~

Thanks Yipapa.  Do you think I can also consider to repeat for my Sep born baby boy?  I know there are many parents choose to repeat for Nov/Dec babies but I don't really hear any Sep baby repeating to be super big kid.  
Besides, I have a target kindergarten and I may be able have higher chance to get PN offer if he is super big kid and i don't have to worry or think about repeating for the coming 4 years in my target kindy if he starts at PN class.

I want to know if any parents have this plan or experience or my idea is just not recommended.

Which kindergartens accept Sept bb for their PN classes as most of them only accept up to Aug bb ?

September baby is really a tough case

Mine is a Dec baby and I choose to repeat in K1, IF there is a much better kindergarten for my kid this year

I think for Sep baby, you can try yourself if the kid can catch up on their own.  If not, you still have a chance in the next years.  Though there may be less choices then

However, if you are sure your kid can get a very good KG as being the Super Big baby, and it is the best one on your list,  you can save all these hassels.  

To be honest, going through the interview process in 2 consecutive years  is not funny and indeed painful

I really like your feedback! Maybe you are exactly telling my thought deep inside my heart that I don't have guts to execute!

My no.1 priority kindergarten will have PN interview result Mar next year.  And if they offer my son a place, I can still decide to go for its PN or the existing K1 offer (another kg) on hand.

Then the question for me is whether I should defer 1 year for my Sep born son to start his school journey.

My suggestion is you have to check whether your target P1 accept super large son first.

I read from forum saying for those who apply PN this year,, they will give priority to those born in Year 2010 first and consider Year 2009 afterwards.  If I remember correctly, Cannan is one of the examples.

Even you decided to repeat, it seems better to repeat K1 instead of PN.  As PN has not much to learn.

Hope you get your No 1 Kindergarten by March.  Pls make sure that the PN has the straight-through train to the K1 wor.

In fact,, I think unless that PN is a one dragon school which can offer Primary or even Secondary offer, it is quite hard to convince to be super super big son at this stage.  As it is not guaranteed the kid can get good P1 offer if he repeat PN.

Another choice is to repeat K3 if he cannot get good P1 offer.

My son is not attending any PN class this year.  So, going to kindergarten (no matter K1 or PN) is a new experience to him anyway.  I don't really mind if he learns more or less in his first year.  Repeating K1 with similar curriculum doesn't seem to be better than learning progressively (PN then K1) by building stronger foundation at early years.  This is my personal opinion and would like to hear any other (or counter) comments so that i can study this topic thoroughly before making decision.

yes, you're right that it won't guarantee a good P1 offer to start a year later.  but it applies the same if I take the existing K1 offer.  Although this allows me a chance to repeat K3, this is not what i want because I saw many cases repeating K3 will greatly impact kid's confidence and we have to carefully deal with their feelings with good explanation to them.  also, K3 kids will have their own thought and will whethere they want to repeat or not.  They have established friendship with their classmates and may have hope for promoting to P1 as his/her classmates together.

In fact, every kid should have at least 20 years to study in his life, 1 year deferral really not that important.  In other countries like Australia & US, kids only start Kindergarten since 4-5 years old (& it is even not 5 days school).  It is just Hong Kong have such distorted arrangement for kids and push everything early to happen.

I want to explore here any parents had the experience or the same thought like me.  it's a really lifelong decision and I really worry I would make the wrong decision for my son.

You're absolutely right!  Other countries have a more relaxed siutation than HK has.  But the fact is I'm living in HK and am not sure this decision will give my son hard time in his future.
