Re: 思考題II
Philip,
let me try to answer the personal question first. All from Judy's previous message, that is all guess.
Her son is studying P.6 now, the first DSS school (primary)was established five years ago. Therefore, she didn't have the chance to choose a DSS.
Scenario :
Nobody will actually know whether they are band one or band three. Could the school destinate certain band of students. Is that only according to the students' choice. All band one students select your school and then fill the vacancies, there will be a 100% band one students school. Am I correct?
Hypotheses 1:
At phase one, top students will not select select this school, marginal will. The fact is, majority will try
an EMI even the band three studens. You have to agree that some of them are not bad students, no good result but hard working, they and their parents may not know much about the system, or even their own performance etc.
Is that a chance the school wrongly select the students, they are not classified as band 3 at that time. And there is not much top students will try this school. Supposing a St. Francis student, ranked at the bottom stream. But everybody know this primary school (and the like) has higher standard than the marjority. Or vice versa, a top stream student in a common school.
Chicken mouth or ox descendent? Both may be marginal band three students.
Constraint 1:
The school is used to be a good school, but not the case nowadays. Top students don't choose it at the only chance in phase one. And most people want EMI (that's reality). Even band 3 (known or unknown) will try a comparatively not so popular EMI school.
Hypothese 2:
There are thiry choices, Is it all restricted to the school net? As I know, it is not (please indicate if I am wrong). And there must be more than 30 EMI school. That means, high chance of not being selected in the list. After the allocation to band one whose are all destinated to the selected school. The rest will be assigned by computer. And the computer will do it randomly to any school. At a result, there is a chance of that EMI school's vacancies not filled.
But I agree that for an EMI school, most band 2 students will not miss this occassion. Would it be a case that the school you mentioned is not so good in reputation now?
