ESF Kinder to ESF primary school

Anyone can tell me how many kids from ESF kinders (CWS. TY and MOS)  & how many seats available in ESF primary (SJS, KJS & BHS)? As I want to work out how many seats is available for kids from kinders other thsn ESF kinder.

u never know the answer coz u never know how many Cat. 1 applicants who have the higher priorities for interview.

I heard BHS, KJS & SJS each has 5 classes x30=3x150. (Not confirm). I have no idea on number of classes for the ESF Kinder (TY, CWS, MOS)?

TY has 8 classes K1 & 8 classes K2 (AM+PM) of ~2X per class (22 or 24 or 25? I didn't count actually). I guess WKS have the same capacity as TY. Please reconfirm with WKS parents.
U have not counted ESF Sheungwan (become Hillside next year)...

quick calculation (based on the kinder & primary in Kln & NT):
TY=200(8x25)
WKS=125 (5x25)
Abacus=125(5x25)
total=450 (kinder)

SJS=150(5x30)
KJS=150 (5x30)
BHS=90 (3x30)
CWS=90(3x30)
total=480 (primary school)

if the data is correct, then
=> very small chance for non-ESF kinder+Cat 1
=> no chance for Cat2

what can we do?

Cat 1 always have the highest priority for interview.
Cat 2 non-ESF kinder applicants w/o ESF silbings, need to consider contingency plans.
RC has 5 classes. The last oasis for ESF fans.
DC has only 3 classes. Already flooding by Cat 1 and ESF kinder applicants last year.

I hope some TY Kinder will choose ESF primary school on HK Island and release more seats. Does RC accept late submission? If yes, what is the chance?

no apply no chance.
As long as u pay the application fee, u will be on the waiting list. they will call u for interview when it is your turn, maybe this year, maybe next year, maybe...
it seems your child is in K2 at a non ESF kindergarten now and u only apply ESF Year 1 thro' central application...if it is the case, i suggest u better prepare your contingency plan early.

Yes, my son is in non-ESF kinder (K2)and I have not applied for RC before the closing date. When I recieved the acknowledgement letter, I realize the priority is different from before:
(in the letter, the new rules is)
. those whose parents are full time ESF teachers
· those with siblings in an ESF school
· those whose parents are former students of an ESF school
· those attending ESF Kindergartens (for Y1)

i.e even you are in cat 1, your priority is after this list (few space left according to my rough calculation).  I also heard that they will put you to cat 2 if your son or parent can speak cantonese (anyone can confirm this ?).
I think I definitely need to have a contingence plan.

If RC is still your choice, u may spend a few hundred dollars to send an late application (before they stop accepting late applications soon, when they have had a long enough waiting list). That is something u can do.
Alternatively, look for other international schools if you strive for the international stream (seems a little bit late but worthy to try), or looking for K3 places in good kindergartens next year and staying in local stream while waiting for ESF/RC's offer in the coming years; or simply going back to local stream.

We are at Cat 2
ESF Priamry is our dream school, cos we don't have extra money for the debenture for other IS

So since my young one is still at nursery
I should try to get a place in one of the ESF kinder next yr
then apply P.1 and then the chance to ESF P.1 should be higher , true right?

i am not a judge to say u correct or wrong but i'm doing in the same way.
BTW, what is your purpose of studying 2 sessions of IS? 1+1 may not be equal to 2.

The "chance" of getting into an ESF school is not that simple. There is basically no use calculating the number of kindergarten kids and compared to primary seats because there is this catchment area issue.

first of all, CWBS has 120 seats.

CWBS Y1 applications: 210
category 1: 160
category 2: 50

KJS Y1 applications: 340
category 1: 190
category 2: 150

can anyone share similar info from SJS???

thanks so much for the rough statistics on ESF K2 students, look at this 450 figure, wild guess would be RC 1st round interview 350 applicants most of them are from ESF kindy.
