International school-Summer school

Dear All,

Would like to send my kids to summer courses/ summer camp which provide by international school.
My kids was studying in CKY, it was not an international school at all, but would like them to pratice more English during summer.

Any of you know which school will except OUTSIDER?

Please advice. Thank you

As far as I know, HKIS and GSIS, but their summer programme is about 2 weeks only.

Dear Gisele,

Thank you for your information. Actually my kids will only start their summer holiday on July 14. Therefore cannot join the HKIS programm, and GSIS, it was too far for us-the school start course at 8:00, as I am living in Kowloon Tong, therefore my kids must wake up at 6:00.

Are there any English courses beside ESF, prefer in Kowloon area.

And for GSIS, it was too far for us, as we are living in Kowloon Tong. The course of GSIS will start at 8:00, therefore my kids will need to wake up at 6:00.

Are there any summer english courses beside ESF, prefer in Kowloon side? Million thanks in advance.

Yes right. Actually I have been there last year. But there are a lot of Chinese local kids, and they really can't learn as what I expect at the end, therefore I rather paid more and go to a really foreigner international school.

Sorry, I only know that ESF is quite popular amongst Kowloon side parents.  

I read somewhere that CKY children starts at 5, instead of 6 at P1, is this correct?  Coz I would like to apply CKY for my boy too.

That's what I suspect too.  Does Bradbury School (on Stubbs Road, Wanchai) have ESF summer programme? Coz I think this is the ESP school which has the least number of Chinese children.

How old are your kids?  If you don't mind send them to Shatin or Fotan, ICS also provide summer courses (welcome outsiders).  For those are kindergarten age, will go to Fotan campus, above age will go to Shatin ShekMun campus.  School bus will be provided to/fro ShekMun campus.  You may choose 2 weeks or 4 weeks courses.  But it's full very fast every year!

Yes I think it will be the only choice. But what I want is to find a FULL DAY course. ICS is only from 9-12. Anyway thank you so much for your information.

ESF summer classes are usually joined by local Chinese kids from non-ESF schools.  ESF students themselves seldom join ESF summer language classes as it is not necessary for them.

Totally agree with WYMom.  My nephew  (Yr 6) and niece (Yr 4) are students of Bradbury School.  They have never joined the ESF summer programme.  ESF summer classes kids are mostly from local schools.

Comments about ICS summer school have been positive.  Most of the kids I know said it was fun.  However, achow might be a bit disappointed if he/she expects to see a lot of non-Chinese kids.  Same as the ESF summer programme, more than 90% of kids that attended this programme were from local schools.

Don't set the expectation too high in terms of meeting non-local kids in the IS summer school.  As per my observation, most non-local kids might not consider enrolling the IS summer schools.  What takes something similar to what you're having during school terms?

Other than ESF, can try Yew Chung in Kowloon Tong but again, u ve to expect most of the children would be from local school.  I enrolled Yew Chung half day camp for 1st two weeks and 3 weeks in August at TST YMCA whole day camp for my 5 yrs old daughter.  I did join ESF Kowloon junior summer course last summer.

Foreign kids will not join this kind of activities.
Most of them:
1) Go back to their home country, travel with their parents
2) Relax at home
3) Join sports camp, like football club etc.

Summer for them is relax.

why don't you try to put your kids to KCC or Sai Kung Brazillian Soccer camp.  Those are mostly western kids.
