請問有無人知 倫敦國王學院King's College London 經濟系好唔好? 收到入學conditional offer, 仍然等緊 UCL, University of Birmingham 消息, 見QS World University Rankings  經濟系 KCL - Economics top ranking 300 不入, 似乎唔太理想.

先搞清楚你想問乜。

一、如果純粹講去London讀Econ, 最勁學校當然係LSE, 跟住就係UCL。當然亦有人會考慮UCL總體排名而棄LSE的。如果你有呢兩間的offer, 我實在想不出任何入讀KCL的理由。

二、KCL的classical, neoclassical econ都不大出名，反而political econ非常不錯。但後者不屬於dept of econ.

三、如果你想問只有KCL econ offer, 是否值得入讀或是應該留港升學，那是相當複雜和個人的考慮。

有 UCL 同 UoB，就莫考慮 KCL。KCL 出名不在於 Econ，佢係 Business Management 出名。建議等齊 5 間大學回覆再作打算。

My son just got rejected by University of Edinburgh thru UCAS in Economics, there is no status to list what reason he got rejected.

My son's predicted grades are core subject with 5 / 5 / 4  and elective 5/5/5.

Seems entry requirement has been achieved.

I read from Student Room forum that Edinburgh prefers to take Scottish and its difficult for the others to get in.

Does your son prioritize when he applied?Anyway, a candidate can only take 2 offers being one firm choice and one insurance choice so at this stage better wait and see all offers and then make up his mind.I think the deadline is mid March for UCAS so there’s still plenty of time to consider.

By the way usually universities will not advise the rejection reasons.  Some of them may but surely not all.  My daughter’s classmate recently got a rejection saying that she fails to demonstrate her passion in the Personal Statement.  Her PG is 44/45.

what is the predicated grade of core math and extended math ?

may i ask which university rejected that girl with 44/45 PG? for which subject?

I heard a case a few years ago the IB HL subjects are not challenging enough

PG does not mean that much to the university because it's just a grade that somebody made up, there are cases that teachers give all As／5s to students so they can have offers having lower entry requirement. That is also the case for me, my elective subjects teacher gave 5* so I can have a better chance of getting an offer. Universities usually do not provide reasons for rejection.
I can't say for UCL, but Birmingham would most likely give an offer. What is the other university you have applied apart from those you have mentioned? There's not much you can do before all replies are received.

Sorry I’d prefer not to disclose her details but my daughter believes that her PS is kind of unconventional.  

Another classmate with same predicted grade didn’t get the Oxbridge interview offer.  Both of them couldn’t take the rejections very well.  

So definitely predicted grade is only part of the admission criteria.

i also know a kid with PG 44/45 got rejected by LSE, reason bring his PS not strong enough. seems LSE use PS as reason for most of its rejections.

Oxford interview rate is lower than Cambridge, and Oxford uses its own aptitude tests as screener for the interview shortlist, much less relies on PG as the other universities which do not require entrance exams and/or interviews

For Edinburgh, the requirements of core and extended maths are 55.

The grades of 44/45 are not competitive enough for LSE.

Sometimes things are unpredictable. With the same course title, my kid was given conditional offer by UCL but was rejected by Aston.

LSE是英國院校中最看重PS的。落足心機 寫好篇PS, 真係好過考試多粒＊，這是報考LSE的常識吧。

首先恭喜你兒子拿到 KCL 的 conditional offer!  KCL 是很好的大學，拿到她的conditional offer 是很高興的事情啊!

我曾經聽人說過，她的 undergraduate economics course 是近一兩年才開始辦的，或者你可以查證一下情形是否真的如此， 如果屬實，那 QS ranking 低，就可解釋了。 或者你可以等收齊所有大學的 conditional offer 再慢慢比較考慮。
