In a sense, I don't agree with the original montessori way 100%. Times have changed, and there is the cultural factor as well. Obviously, present day HK is quite different from Italy in the early 20th century. The most important thing is the "spirit" in its teaching. I am a staunch supporter of Montessori, and my son has not attended any other type of schooling except Montessori for the past...almost 3 years. I am fortunate enough to be able to talk to a few IMS parents. Each school has its pros and cons. A lot of it also depends on whether your child's character fits the system. If your child fits the Montessori way, you will be VERY surprised at what he/she can accomplish in primary school, especially if the child comes from a Montessori kindergarten. |
