I went to KCIS today, and had a long talk with the principal. My daughter is accepted for p2.

My husband and I are very happy with the curriculum, the organization of the school and the scheduling, (like avoiding clashing with local section ,and the younger grades don't clash into the higher grades, and the school hours are to avoid the local section, and the other int'l schools in the area) and if you pick up your child by private car, you can pick up 10 minutes earlier.

Best of all is their chinese "putonghua" curriculum utilizes local "longman" books...which are what my kids are using in the local kindergarten. And best of all the school takes into account what level each child is ...... say my child doesn't know any putonghua, then she will placed in the beginners class, so she can have chance to learn to get caught up.

The principal says she will aim for P6, she will be fluent in Putonghua.

For the teachers, all native english speakers for English, while Putonghua will be taught by chinese native speakers.

75% English and 25% chinese
Chinese lesson everyday.
And they learn TRADITIONAL characters, not simplified. (important to me).

I know SIS is very good too, but people tell me it's really hard to get in, unless you have "connections."

ICS, I don't know anything about, but hear it's a good school too.

I only looked at Primary school.

Apparently, there is a long waiting list at SIS, BUT a friend who knew "someone" got in front of the line very quickly, applied, and got in without waiting.

That's all I can say.

It's almost the same for all IS that are popular, unless you enter from Reception, and unless you "know" people.... you're put on the waiting list for a long time, sometimes, forever.

Of course, there are those students who legitimately apply, interview, and enter the school without any ties, in fact, most of them probably are such case.
