急問英國中學讀sixth form

我囡囡今年會考
希望明年(2008 sept entry)到英國讀sixth form
但我知道好多top學校的學位已滿

想問一下還有那些a-level成績不錯的學校還有學位?
亦想問如果到英倫海外升學中心 or academic asia等
升學agent的中心詢問有關的資料,要先預約嗎?還要預先繳費嗎?
大約是多少錢?

希望各位有經驗的媽咪 or 從事有關行業的網友幫幫忙!

我收到Academic Asia 五月份有exhibition的宣傳,我唔記邊日, 你打電話去問日子。我之前同個仔去過, 佢地話唔收費,但比左100蚊考試費,之後仲駛唔駛收其他費就唔知,因為我都係喜歡自己找學校。

其實你咁遲先決定比個女去英國,就同佢找些中上學校, 頂級學校多數冇位。我曾經同個大仔在七月份找九月份入學, 佢在香港讀band
one 英中, 所以我用幾晚 target 一些排名
400 以上的私校,係咁 send email, 最終有三間比佢面試,但要去英國面試, 有兩間肯收,到現在佢今年九月入大學,我冇後悔過比佢入一間唔係最top的學校,最緊要校風要好,但真係要親身睇過先知。所以我唔係太信任agent, 自己的心肝最好自己親力親為。

前幾日,她突然同我講想到英國讀書,嚇得我手忙腳亂...
我前幾日send e-mail 去Edinburgh 的 Fettes學校,他們說學額已滿...囡囡佢好失望
因為我知道依家搵學校已經太遲,又唔想俾囡囡2009年先入學,所以想搵d 好既升學agent幫忙

請問如果send e-mail 去學校問學位,有d咩要特別注意?

其實我接觸過Academic Asia,覺得佢地都 professional, 你嘗試兩邊一起做囉, 不過自己聯絡學校一定係一件好辛苦的事, 而且好多時會令你灰心失望。你首先要有一個合理的原因解釋點解咁遲先找學校,亦明白學校一貫做法,但希望佢地幫助你。我記得當時我解釋個仔希望返英國讀書和定居(因他有居留)。如果學校真的仍有位,佢地其實會樂意考慮,為左囡囡你要努力加油,我衷心祝福你成功。

我打算等囡囡星期二考完會考,去Academic Asia搵學校
呢幾日我就準備定囡囡d成績表,獎狀等的東西,重要搵定幾間心儀的學校,之前send e-mail去2間學校,都已經話無位,唔知我重應唔應該再send e-mail(連囡囡d成績表同獎狀一齊send埋去),希望有個interview的機會

To be honest, i don't think scotland is a nice place for your daughter to study, as it is located at the far north, it is very cold and windy, specially in winter! it also always raining.maybe england is a better choice for her.

囡囡話希望可以專心讀書...所以唔想去d近大城市的學校(e.g. London...)
請問去南部的學校(Devon,Kent...),還是北部的學校(York...)比較好?我囡囡話天氣沒什麼問題...

your daughter is right, London has lots of Chinese and too too too many entertainment, difficult to 專心讀書.If the weather is not a problem, north and south are the same.
York is still quite far , although it is in england, it is near scotland. sometimes, it has flood there in summer.(not always, just in case) I would rather choose Devon.

其實我有親戚住在Belfast,那裡有間學校叫Methodist College Belfast...但因為囡囡怕Belfast的學校得不到香港的大學認可...所以我沒有考慮
Methodist College Belfast的學費連寄宿比大部分uk boarding平三分之一...

另外, moria house girls school 都比較易入.  我識有學生係度讀, 中上, 5係好top, 你可以作後備啦.

仲有, 阿女9月會入讀Ockbrook school 係英格蘭中部, 都比較寧靜, 學fee 又5係好貴, 你都可以 try try.

我而家個agent 好nice, 好有耐性幫我搵學校,  亦都好幫學生.  使5使我介紹比你?
