can anyone said that why hk people learn english for the whole life, more than 20 years) but can not speak english well (that is me, and some my friends, may be worse) so how can I get my son english better (i have no money to study at IS school), even we just want to watch the cartoon, if there is no subtitle, we don't understand.

many people would say that we have no english environment here but you see some places (like shanhai or peijing) in China, there is good english speakers there.

要學好語言，必需要有好的語言環境，如果少聽少講，點會好???我認為要學好聽講英文，一定要由細個開始，才事半功培，要知道每個語言都有唔同的發音組合，只有細細個的小朋友的腦部才有能力分辨及100%模仿，就是這原因我到現在都係講緊香港口音的英語 ！加上我們小時侯無phonic學，所以讀音會更差！現在小朋友幸福好多

We are also not rich but we want our son has excellent english, so our 1st choice is IS.  I've read many BK before and I encourage you to read them especially "一般收入的家庭會否讓子女讀國際小學"

I remember 1 parent case:
school fee + bus fee = HK$7,000
total income = HK$15,000
single parent

but she still OK

My own comment:
For english learning : IS better than bilingual.  Bilingual better than cantonese only.

Don't give up.

Besides, if my son can join IS, I'll let him take extra chinese course in Kumon.  Only cost around $500 per month.

小學已經教晒
但應用得最出神入化的
可能是街市內連小學也沒讀完的檔販

內地人要往外闖的意志超強
英語是其中一個大本錢
他們一見老外便主動聊天
今天只能說單字, 總有一天可以說全句
而且大部份外國人根本不介意你的口音, 語法
只要放下面子放膽去講就是了！
日子一久, 口音語法便學回來了！

所以, 小朋友學得快
因為他們吸收力強, 又不懂顧全面子呀！

In Shanghai, just the elits speak English well. Most of the youths cannot speak and understand. e.g. I asked for a cup of water but many waiters didn't understand until I spoke in Mandarin. I think the reason is that they don't have a good English environment, same as HK.
In HK, 母語教學is another reason.
