Hello FIS NS parents
May I ask how’s the recent online learning arrangement so far for FIS NS?
And before the current 5th wave, how do you find the teaching quality overall ? Cause it’s the first year for FIS NS and I couldn’t research much info on that, it would be very useful if any parents can share.
I am not very familiar and comfortable with IB in kindergarten / primary, so would like to understand a bit more if IEYC is more structured/ literacy/maths-focused.
Thanks a lot.

All pls contact Cheermate if you plan to take school bus. They will arrange a route from kowloon/tKO to chai wan campus. Most importantly for parents now is to show interest to them. They will mark it down and open when at least 10 students are available

I have checked the school bus service provider website and noted that there is no transport service  ...

The Chai Wan campus currently only houses the French stream. The transition of CW into a mixed stream campus will start next year. They might change the bus routes next year if the demand changes significantly - which is possible as the student mix will change.  Unfortunately, I doubt the school bus company can promise anything now since they know little about next year's demand at this point...

Many thanks for the prompt reply. I guess international schools encourage our kids to question and voice out anything that is not certain. I guess it is also absolutely normal for parents to question and not to be discouraged to seek advice? In fact, I did inspect the noise level outside the school for a short period of time but I wouldn't be able to conclude the level of noise in school and that's why I am using this as one of the platforms to raise my concern. Hope that we can exchange more information. Anyway, sorry for being such a pain!

I wouldn’t worry.
My school back then (still consider as “famous school” now) was right across public housing and as far as I knew, we all turn out just fine. And while I was at school, the school literally had a construction site inside the school for around 2-3 years (they took down an old one and rebuild a new one) And we still turn out just fine. Sure there was some noise going on and off but it did not affect us at all. School had some measure for teachers to minimize the affect from all the work.

Still, all of us turn out just fine.

And I also worked near FIS for a year or two a while ago but I did not find the sites disturbing.

FYI: FIS is one of my considerations.

Seriously, having poor people living near me or my kids' school isn't something that I would worry  ...

Totally.
even in London, some public housing are just right across the road from the luxury houses.
I really dun see any issue about having some transition homes right next to the school.
I am sorry to be blunt, but honestly speaking, if a parent has soooo many worries about a school, it is better to consider not to take the offer. orelse the unsettling feeling might just raise up more and more concerns in the future.

It was reported in the news in July.

For your reference:

ic, think its a newly launched one
but i think it wont cause any problems
as the urban planning in hk always mix the private and public housing, not to worry

since this is your biggest concern, I still suggest you take a day off from work, then pay a visit there and stay for an hour or more to have a drink or take a walk around in the neighbourhood during weekday. get a feeling of it.

I live on hk island and I actually fall in love with this part of TKO after spending a day there before our Child's first day at school.
I think the air there is cleaner than most of the places on hk island for sure

Thanks so much for your responses again. I will seriously consider. No offense but would you worry the air pollution or the coming up buildings nearby such as transitional housing?

Just in case this info helps:
I remember from the school tour a few years ago that the architect did some serious work on the acoustics and noise insulation. That's how the classroom area isn't noisy even though they have 5 classes sharing a more or less open-plan area.

And here's what I just found on the internet:

I live across the street from that major construction site and don't find it noisy at all. For factual question like this, why don't you come see it for yourself, rather than asking strangers?

how can you be assured? the best way is to go there to have a look---- experience it and feel it by yourself. no one is more reliable than yourself.
my opinion is only my personal feeling and could only be used as reference.
I am not here to convince anyone and I have zero intention to as I dun work for FIS and I am not on their payroll. Btw, I just went last Friday for lunch with other parents and spent 1.5 hours inside the school for an event, it was fine.
so far my child has zero complain.

謝謝你的回覆。 其實我冇諗過我嘅小朋友今年會有offer, 一心諗住會喺waiting list ...

year 1 surely will be harder than getting in from reception or nursery.
