2021 entry: King’s School Canterbury/Malvern college/Uppingham /Oakham

Agent 比咗這幾間選擇：
1) King’s school Canterbury
2) Uppingham school
3) Malvern College
4) Oakham School

睇落好似都差不多，是否應該全部都報？還是選一兩間去報？想大家比下意見!

Sorry，我放錯咗。Sherborne都算town school，不是gated community。不過Sherborne都唔係太大嘅town。

The school is smack in the middle of town although the facilities are grouped together. Everything is within walking distance and the "town" is just across the street from the main gate. Uppingham is smallish but safe

I'm fine with small town. Actually don't want my son to go around easily. So it's not a campus school, right? Is the town peaceful and safe? Do students need to take public transport to go to school buildings, or within walking distance?

校園冇boundary，課室、宿舍同市內建築交雜共存，上落堂就喺街上面行嚟行去。
Oundle，King's School Cantebury都town sch。

即係學校喺town入面，例如Rugby，Uppingham，KSC等。As opposed to Sherborne，Stowe，Christ's Hospital嗰種基本上唔喺一個town入面，出town有少少（或者唔少）距離。

多house因為多full boarders。環境同大部份同類型嘅傳統英式寄宿學校相似，係town school喺Uppingham town入面，有大量草地，但又同時有town嘅設施（雖然Uppingham唔算好大）。

值得提嘅係Uppingham保留咗傳統嘅house dining system，即係學生早午晚都喺自己house食飯，as opposed to central dining。雖然對學校嚟講唔特別efficient，但係對學生嚟講係好build到house spirit嘅。因為house tutor會食晏時入house坐低同啲學生一齊食傾下偈，有好多pastoral care就係喺呢啲時候不知不覺間做咗。有啲小朋友單對單對住個大人緊張怕醜唔講嘢，一班人一人一句就接受到好多「問題」方便解決。

當然係我個人見解。

Uppingham好似有好多houses，唔知寄宿婚生活如何呢？四周環境又怎麼樣？

我盡量講下我個人嘅意見啦，睇睇對你有冇用。

我假設你小朋友係入Y9先，先講local reputation，Uppingham同KSC排先少少，跟住係Malvern，最後係Oakham。雖然全部都係好學校，都有啲啲分別。

再嚟睇睇寄宿情況，四間都算係傳統寄宿學校：
- Uppingham（~800人，~770full boarders)
- KSC（~900人，~720full boarders)
- Malvern（~620人，~450full boarders)
- Oakham（~1000人，~520boarders包weekly/flexi)
咁好明顯睇到，Oakham嚴格嚟講唔係寄宿比例高嘅full boarding school喇，有機會weekend吉啲悶啲。而Malvern就比較細少少。

大部分嘅呢類傳統英式寄宿學校都某程度上照顧全人發展，所以除咗讀書外，都一定有音樂／運動嘅設施同選擇。驟眼睇好似差不多，其實比重都有啲分別。KSC明顯係音樂強校，當然嗰方面著重啲，運動比重就自然無咁高啦。唔係話設施選擇唔夠多，純粹係整體風氣問題（一樣有個別同學運動好，亦唔係話全部人關埋係音樂房練琴）。其他三間就比較平均啲，運動比重高少少。

課程方面，Uppingham同KSC就A level，但係Oakham同Malvern就兼有IB揀。Depending on你小朋友性格強項，呢個都係一個考慮嘅factor。教學方面，應該四間都唔係超chur嘅學校，KSC可能比較要求高啲，Malvern就最relaxed。
