- 1 re-sit per unit before certification (only last 2 exam results eligible for grade award),
- May/June 2020 will be the final assessment for legacy unit(s).

IAL Re-sit
For all IALs, except for Mathematics, candidates will be able to re-sit individual units once before certification.

If candidates resit examinations more than once, only the last 2 results will be taken into consideration when awarding the grade. This means that the higher mark of the last two examinations will be used to calculate the grade.

For instance if a candidate sits an examination for the first time and achieve 80 marks and sit the same examination again and achieve 70 marks (80 marks will be used to calculate overall subject grade). However if the candidate sits the same examination again and achieves 60 marks, 70 marks will be used to calculate the grade (the first 80 marks is no longer valid as only the last two attempts will be eligible to use).

Candidates are only counted as taking an examination if they were present at the time of the examination. If a candidate is absent from the examination, it will not count as an attempt

我唔敢肯定，但據聞唔同大學唔同系都有唔同要求。
如果你囡囡已經有心儀大學， 最好都係直接send email問清楚有關學校， 因為a level考咗幾多次其實冇得暪，學校係睇到嘅， 咁不如搞清楚曬所有嘢先至去實行。

早幾年我孩子香港中學有好多師兄係咁做，同時考DSE, 話可以根據兩個試的最後成績去報大學，我們本來打算照做，不過後來改變主意直接到英國留學，所以呢個疑團一直未解

英國大學 conditional offer (CO) , 我爬文所見係用 predicated grade (DSE/IAL/GCEAL.... 等).

真心請教, 如果英國大學 3-4月出 conditional offer CO e.g. A*AA (IAL), 而 IAL (Pearson Edexcel  exam board)  係香港可以一年有3次考: 10月、1月及 5月.

如果IAL 3科唔係 combine certificate, 每次都係考3科, IAL 成績: 10月 (ABB)、1月 (AAB) 及如果最後 5月嗰次考到 A*AA , 用5月嗰次 IAL 回覆返英國大學 meet 到佢大學出嘅 conditional offer CO, 係咪會有機會唔取錄, 大學唔會出 Unconditional Offer? 反而會打折扣學生考咗 3次 IAL 嘅成績? Conditional Offer 會改? 係咪咁理解及咁樣邏輯?

因為我以為, 大學出 conditional offer (CO), 學生一張成績表內 meet 到 conditional offer (CO) 大學就一定要收. 原來唔係咁咩? 真心求問.

我前幾年睇報紙講，英國教育局覺得自己的學生程度低，無競爭力，所以先將GCSE 同 A level改革。既然宜家所有英國考生都係一 take 過考 A level, 分兩年考的成績要打折都好合理。

如果直接去英國讀A Level，唔會讀 Maths，本身冇GCSE / DSE成績的：
要留意英及數合格，係考大學大部份學科的「基本」要求，英文可以用 IELTS， 但應該係要考番GCSE Maths。

我理解同你一樣，前2年 A Level 開始改制後，基本上就係Yr 13 4-5月 1 take 過考試。
而喺香港考 IAL就冇改制，同以前 A Level一樣，同一科2年課程可以分開幾個 modules，讀完1個 考1個，有D 喺Yr 12考，有D 喺Yr 13考，冇咁大壓力。

以我所知，英國大學係唔喜歡combined certs嘅。其中一樣大學審視嘅係學生點樣handle一次過考咁多科（分配時間資源），所以對佢哋來講分拆係偷雞嘅做法，要減分。所以就算學生某啲科超前好多，英國學校都唔建議（甚至唔俾）部分提前早考。英國大學唔喜歡英國報考生combined cert，斷估唔會特別優待香港學生啩。
唯一例外係中文GCSE/A level。因為考咗對報英國大學其實冇乜實質幫助，所以啲學校都冇乜所謂。

當然只係我嘅understanding。

我地都係聽完agent講，本來只信一半，覺得佢梗係咁sell，後來去聽不同學校簡介會，都有咁講，所以我信係真嘅，咁又好合理， 冇理由學生一次過考的成績同分開幾年考嘅combine成绩接受程度一樣。
至於GCSE, 英國學校嘅建議係 如果有信心考好成績就當然有考着數， 但係如果唔夠信心就唔好考， 出嚟成績唔靚比冇考過印象更差。

我聽的不只係agent講，而且係學校admission 講，因為依個係我standard question 比每一間我有份參觀的學校，不過今年5月無得考IGCSE，想考都唔得，但今年又已經過過咗去英國，又唔想佢今年考，唯有希望大學下年收生有額外考慮喇

你講得啱 ，我當年都曾經打算叫孩子在港自修A level, 分兩三年考，再考埋DSE。 後來同agent 傾， 佢都有講過英國top university 係比較下係會睇低combine cert同重考科成績嘅， 所以佢當時話一係唔考，一係就全部一次過考， 咁樣先至有競爭力。
另外，top U亦會睇GCSE成績， 所以如果你target 英國top u, 最好都係有埋GCSE成績
