小朋友13歲去英國留學，住boarding，請問如果我自己搞唔經agent  可以嗎？ 有乜嘢要注意或者需要做的？

其實經agent 都係幾舊水考試費我情願經agent

其實英國咁多學校，地區、$、自己仔女成績、課程、設施，你應該自己做下功課先！我諗你咁樣無咩人會答你

沒有推介，我係根據自己孩子喜好成績經濟能力宗教嚟選擇的。逐間睇，自己孩子自己最清楚需要

我小孩都係十三歲去寄宿，佢好鍾意讀得好開心。當初自己選左一堆學校岩自己要求先，例如位置，學費，成績，寄宿生人數，活動，之後聯絡四間agent分開考不同學校，又去展覽會，見多幾個agent就會聽到佢哋分析嘅分別、可信性，收哂offer之後由小孩自己選擇，佢自己選甘心命抵幸運地讀得開心，同學相處融洽老師好nice。同不同嘅agent傾吓啦，反正唔收費

我小朋友個間係自己搵本人較鐘意自己搵, agent只介紹佢想介紹D學校, 除非你没有preference, 否則可以自己攪自己跟, 如約school tour, 面試等, 完全没有問題

去英國讀極度建議貴公子讀埋香港中二/三先走英國果邊通常係(等同香港)中三/四先開始讀GCSE/IGCSE，中一去到冇乜大作用，仲會冇左香港讀中學既珍貴回憶
自己過來人，唔想再有人咁就冇左香港中學回憶......

the question is: what do u expect the agent to help you after your child has settled in a new school?  you do not pay for their service in the 1st place and what else do you want them or expect them to help you?Why not you do it for your child, he/she is your child, not agent's , after they have got you an offer and got the commission from the school, do you think they will want to help you further, why not help a new student (client) for another school and get more commission.

好多人揾大 agent, 但我哋嘅 experience 衹係麻麻，可能 timing 唔啱，報得太遲:

A 大 agent 話 10月尾先揾佢哋太遲，已唔接下一年9月入學嘅申請，即唔做我哋生意。

B 大 agent 話 10月尾遲咗啲，但都有介紹幾間他們手頭上的學校比我哋。佢哋介紹嘅學校衹有一間 match 我哋要求(因沒有了解我哋嘅要求，一坐低就介紹)，全部都是當時咁啱來港招生的學校。我哋 suggest 咗幾間，但都話已過 deadline (但我知道其中一間仲收緊生，因自己打電話問過)。問多幾間後 (衹是問不是報)就同我哋講衹可報5間，好似唔想你問咁多間。仲有個agent 好忙好多case 跟緊，好多時要隔一兩日才可覆電話。

C 細 agent 話 10 月尾遲咗少少，但仲有好多學校可報，佢用咗1.5 個鍾了解我哋嘅要求,然後即時出 email 問咗五六間學校，跟著十日內再同我哋問多三十間學校(包括一些 B agent 話已載止的學校)。最後C agent 成功為我哋揾到學校！
(其實 B agent 介紹的其中一間最後都收咗，但因為跟得唔夠貼所以 offer 出得較遲，我哋已比deposit C agent 介紹嗰間學校)。

所以可能要揾一兩間 agent 比較下

Could parents with children studying in the uk please shed some light on how much help do you required from agents after your children have settled abroad?I have nothing against agents. I think they are helpful and would alleviate parents workload and stress when applying for schools.
The process of applying ourselves can be an enjoyable experience too.

Imagine that you were the school. One applicant applies directly, so you don't need to pay an agent. Another applicant applies through an agent, so you need to pay an agent. Which applicant will you take?

Actually your question raised a good point. I think applying through an agent may actually reduce your chance of getting admitted.

if you think agent is useful, think about looking for a helper with the agent, that's how most agents do their business, they sell you the 'products' that they have on hand only.  
If you have the knowledge to apply schools for your children, e.g. you know English, use the Internet, etc, why not apply it all by yourself.  You are the only person who knows what's the best school for your children.  It is a long journey to find the right school for your children, e.g. look for school information, contact schools, school visits, train your children for the exams, etc.

間大Agent 唔收費用幫你搞， 咁都幾好， 起碼攪 visa,  或日後有嘢要問清楚學校， 佢都會幫你。
