Malvern is targeting 90% foreign students....

Malvern considers PRC passport holders  as foreign students.  I heard quite a big number of mainlanders.

如果讀IS，沒有泳池及空間，只在一個改裝商場的校舍，是很大的disadvantage.

Wycombe abbey teach mandarin + simplified Chinese malvern also the same.
Both school saying that we are teaching your children prepare them for 21 century not for now so they will chose mandarin + simplified Chinese

From my understanding:

Wycombe Abbey is registered as a private school. They should have no requirement on foreign passport holders / local residents % by EDB. They will use their own blended-curriculum (UK/HK?). They will have equal amount of lessons in English, Chinese and Maths each week and use Chinese approach to teach Maths at KS 1. Their current site only has enough capacity for primary classes. They will need to have a new site if they want to have secondary classes. I guess they are targeting those prefer stronger Chinese and Maths, and to have a more structured foundation? According to their website, they can mind the children until 6pm. It will be good for two-working-parents families without extra help.

Malvern is registered as an international school. They are required to have certain % of foreign passport holders by EDB so foreign passport holders should have a higher admissions priority. They are a though-train IB school from Y1 (PYP) to Y13 (IBDP). And their site is bigger and have more facilities (purpose-built building rather than conversion). In general, I guess the student-mix there should be more diverse? The main campus has been running for a year, so you should be able to get more feedback from existing parents.

You should visit both schools too see which one is more suitable to your family.

good stuff thank you. I'm yet to pay a visit as sending the kids to intl has just come into my mind given what's happening recently in hk. will explore more in due course..anyhow I think it's not easy to switch as the schools might not hv a spot for insertion, but will see.

as for W.A. do you know if they will hv plans to open high school in hk for thru train pgm? thx

I have gone information session of  both schools... for my opinion I would suggest you visit both schools first before you make any decisions.
Summaries few points in general:

wycombe abbey
- school background: top AL girl school in UK (similar to HK DGS)
- Hong Kong campus is new @ Tin Wan renovation from Link shopping center (not much facilities no swimming pool or football court etc) but they say they are looking for place to build a bigger school (I think it may take at least 5 years time)
- very good support on academic have after school tutorial class teaching students homework

Malvern
- school background: UK IB school I think they also offer AL in Uk (similar to HK St Paul Co-Ed has both IB and DSE offer in same school) but in HK only offer IB
- school campus very established has swimming pool football court also got indoor basketball netball court
- very UK style
- the principal in HK is transferred from Malvern UK so ensure the teaching style is similar to what they do in UK
- they often say Malvern family that make me feel very warm

Share me more after you visit the schools.
