Your understanding is correct. NAIS is s through train school. Pre-school students are guaranteed a place for Year 1.

So correct me if I am wrong:
In nais preschool, there are classes: nursery, lower kindergarten
And upper kindergarten (equivalent to Yr1)?
Students in preschool for whatever campus can promote to Yr2 in lam tin campus directly without interview or selection?
Many many thanks, as I am afraid my kids cant be promoted to nais primary school after graduated in nais preschool like the case in ESF.

NAIS got the Lam Tin site from the government under the School Allocation Exercise. They have to allocate at least 70% places to foreign passport holders (excluding BNO). Thus, most Lam Tin places go to foreign passport holders and siblings.

With more kids going to their pre-schools without foreign passport and they will go to Lam Tin for Y2, it will be more difficult for non foreign passport holders to get into their primary school.

Last year, their pre-schools were new so they had places for Upper Kindergarten (Y1). In coming years, it would be harder to get into their Y1 (esp for non foreign passport holders) unless they will have a new site for primary/secondary.
