真心請教：如果呀仔想去外國讀書， Year 9, 但他的心態似去旅遊, 諗住可以自由自在，這樣還應該讓他去外國嗎？

如果去外國讀中學，一定要 boarding 。
但加拿大本土人好少比仔女 boarding，寄宿學校非加拿大重點發展的 "生意"。
因此 boarding school 唔多，質素兩極，一係好但難考，一係就好麻麻收 visa student 。
加拿大的 top school ，好多係座落高尚住宅區的 public day school。

你的 offer 一個在 calgary 一個在 vancouver ，即係冇乜特別目標，但求有學校收就算？其實學校水平也十分重要，如果入在一間好似香港的 band 3 學校就慘。

去外國並非解決問題的靈丹妙藥。
山高皇帝遠，見好多 "玩" "自由" 的心態去外國讀書 ( 去英美加澳也有 )，讀唔成書返香港。

Calgary 好凍，Vancouver 要留意濫藥問題 fentanyl (好似係咁串)，今年已經有幾百人死咗。 要教導小朋友乜嘢應該做乜嘢唔應該。

單性／雙性學校對成績嘅影響冇太大關係吧....最主要都係睇師資同往年戰績。

澳洲天氣禁好，又多好野食，活动又多，上山下水乜都有，唔开心先奇~简直係度假feel.

有得揀，當然係屋企最好，但係住宿舍都唔係咁差姐。有朋友，冇父母 24 小時嚴密監 ...

自律既就係……去吃喝玩樂过曰子既亦見唔少~

For blending with the white guys, its no different in UK or USA. Its definite people blending with someone similar background. Its not discrimination in a sense the students still respecting each others. But if your kids join more activities, they bound to have more similar experiences with the white guys. Then they can be friends. But I also know some guys only aiming at studying in UK. Then its hard for him to mingle with people of different culture.

Apart from good encouragements from teachers. In general, UK schools (not sure about US CAD AUST) offers lots of school activities and experiences that HK students lacks time for with their busy homework and after school tuitions. For example, CCF, RAF, Duke of Ed. etc which trains kids for team building, self confidence, respect others, self esteem and overcome fears and challenges. For example, my son joined the RAF (Royal Air Force) this Sep and is over the moon that his officer allowed him to control the plane for 10 minutes during his first flying session. He is now interested to be a pilot and wants to get good exam grades especially for Maths and Physics. I don't think he would be able to have this sort of experience in HK.
