今個星期六係 HKU Information Day, 好似仲未出 2017 admission scores.

請問有冇人有?

IB : 16人 (45分x3, 44分x8, 43分x5)
Graduates : 16人
Others : 5人

我以前有問到相關教授，他的解釋是部分畢業生可能第一個學士學位已經有資助，不能第二個學士學位又再得政府資助，所以這類學生一直數目不能太多，兩間醫學院都傾向不會收太多，從而影響其他學生的機會，始終香港不是美制收醫科生。

我自己識的兩個 graduate students 都是美國畢業，第一個學位沒有資助。

I did not intend to say that you are wrongBut is it possible that it is a misunderstanding of the genuine number for graduate students? A number of 5 is just too small to believe!

My info may be outdated, HKU preferred GCEAL as some government officials and professors’ kids were studying boarding schools in UK with or without overseas educational allowance. (From two professors of HKU medical school. )

Therefore more GCE than IB for some years. Relatively less graduate students.

In CUHK, the % of IB much more than GCE, also for graduate students (15).

CUHK prefers graduate students as they are generally more mature and the attitude of studying is better than high schools students, no matter what curriculum they come from.

Those numbers included GPS and MBChB.
Median 43 for MBChB and not GPS.

Yes from Hku figures, the number of IB students is small.Do you know the rough / absolute figures of IB/AL students going to medicine of cu or hku?
CU claimed it had admitted 10 (45) and 25(44), but the ultimate median was only 43, I think some did not turn up when school term starts.

Thanks for your reply. I think this year is particularly difficult to compare A-level with IB. My personal experience is that I can only compare those students admitted to medicine (HKU/CU) and from the same college with similar academic performance since middle school. Some students went to UK since grade 9 and others remained in the same college. It turned out some got 3-5A* in A-level and some got 43-45 in IB this year. Most IB students went to CU and most A-level students went to HKU.

I didn’t check this year.

I asked you just for curiosity. The expert report is more in-depth to explain the rationale behind the equivalence.

4A* with UMS>95% is only for years before A-level reform. A-level for science subjects from 2017 onwards only show grades and no UMS (except maths and further maths ). That is why HKU only counts number of A*. I know one school still asked for UMS and seemed to know nothing about A-level reform since 2015.
