請問各位英國public school 同grammar school有什麼？

Grammar schools select its pupils by an entrance test, kids must meet its minimum requirement to get in. As  it is over subscribed, pupils with the highest mark will get offered a place first. Most of these schools have a catchment area but the area covers are huge. For example, one Grammer school covers from a zone 6 in London to some part of Oxfordshire.
Most pupils in top grammar schools are from independent primary schools as the academic results and teaching qualities are just as good as independent schools but for free. For this reason, many parents move their kids from independent school to Grammar School for secondary education.
No catchment area applies if the kid chooses boarding at Grammar School.

State schools

State schools can be divided into two categories: academies and maintained schools.

Academies are publicly funded, but independent – meaning they have more control over the curriculum and other aspects of the school.

They’re held accountable for their performance through a funding agreement.

Meanwhile, maintained state schools are overseen by the local authority, and have to follow the national curriculum and stick to national pay and conditions for teachers.

Grammar schools

Grammar schools are also state funded but they select their pupils using an entrance exam called the 11-plus.

The 11-plus usually involves sections on Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning.

But critics of grammar schools say they don’t meet their aim of giving opportunities to brighter pupils, regardless of their background – as poorer kids’ 11-plus results are undermined by other children whose parents pay for expensive tutoring.

However new grammar school places could be acceptance for those with a lower income.

And the half a billion pound package will also pay for the public transport costs or specially laid on minibuses for kids from struggling families to go to grammar schools that are between two and fifteen miles from their homes.


Private schools

Private schools charge fees to attend - which, according to research reported by the BBC, range from £13,194 to £30,369 on average per year.

The more expensive private schools tend to be boarding schools, with the fees covering living costs during term time.

Public school 等如私校，要俾學校同一定要考入去。grammar school 係state school （即係英國人唔洗比錢，緊catchment area 派位）一種，成績比較好，應該要甄選過先入到？

我記得我班英國同學講過，Grammar School 係讀書成績稍微「谷」同埋「競爭力高」嘅學校，而 Public School 就係普通 local school，成績會冇咁彪炳。
