I think we are comparing between the two primary schools.

If we are comparing between the two secondary schools, then English of GHS is slightly better than SMCC and Chinese of SMCC is MUCH better than GHS. The Chinese DSE result of GHS has been disappointing for a few years.

On the other hand, saving the school fee and spending it elsewhere after school can't widen the girls' horizon to the same extent as immersing the girls in GH primary for 6 years. This situation is similar to choosing kinder. If you choose a 學卷 kinder against St Catherine and save the school fee for Eng tutoring class after school, you won't expect the child's spoken Eng or Eng presentation skills as mature as a child who has been studying in St Catherine for 3 years.

I agree with you that SMCC has brilliant results indeed given that it doesn't have full control in selecting its students.

I personally like SMCC more than GHS.

Just compare the results of English and Chinese in dse in both colleges, smcc a bit weak in Eng but much better in Chinese compared with ghc.  And people need to bear in mind that one is a dragon school and the other tried to choose the best of the best.  Private school organize a lot of activities because parents pay for it. Studying in HA, making good use of the money saved can also widen your horizon to certain extent. SMCC is the best school in certain aspects given their non selective intake. Of course GH is also a very good school, which one to choose really depends on parents' preferred priorities.

In terms of English standard, GH is definitely better than HACS. Though it's true that HACS chinese level should be a bit higher than GH.

I must say girls in GH are in general more all-rounded than HACS girls. These include girls who are also academically competent. I do not agree with your point of view. GH girls have many chances to join school teams. The school teams actively participate in various major competitions
and have many chances of performances. Unless parents of HACS deliberately create more opportunities outside school settings, girls in GH can widen their horizons better. There is no doubt about this.

However, given that HACS is a one dragon school and SMCC has better DSE results than GHS, it's pretty straightforward that one would choose HACS against GH. From my perspective, having a more secured secondary promotion prospect is much more important than english level or horizons issue.

The pressure of secondary promotion at GH is enormous.

I would definitely vote for HA
1. 100 % vs 50% promoting to secondary school.
2. Small class vs big class
3. Academically both competitive. Eng more or less the same Chinese HA better
4. Free vs self finance
As for horizon, it depends more on family than school.
I know some people may argue that some dss or private schools not only focuse on academics but also on others like music and sports, so that their students are more all rounded. I would rather say these schools AS A WHOLE are more all rounded as some students are good at academics, and others are good at sports and music.

其實都係一般學校嗰啲，校網資料都好詳盡。

天神和SMCS英文都教快一年，一入學就已經讀小二英文課本。
...

正確，係教科書有不同，但二年級開始有普教中都一樣。英文科都有reading session 和reading level 的要求。
唯一就初小差一科Science，高小差一科Geography。

想問天神除左讀書係咪冇乜活動㗎？佢係中文學校，英文ok嗎？升中會唔會被st mary小學直升的人被比下去？

要上番德中，除了睇成績丶操行，都會睇體藝，入面啲小朋友除左讀書，一般都有一啲體藝學習，同學之間競爭都大。
我今年聽到有GH高年級家長講有同學上年以中上成績升班，但今年上學期有唔只一科炒左，如果兩間都難讀，100%直上應該唔使唸

唔可以當有位剩，係教育局既現有政策，一定要保留若干位俾街外學生，才符合結龍要求 ~

謝謝分享。聽完我覺得好恐怖，校內競爭激烈（GH), 「捱」完6年又上唔番佢中學，出面搵學校揹住個「GH」名 ...

所以有部份GH生會出去考天神、MCS, SMC插班

SMCS - 4 班 x 26 -27
HA -3班x25-27 兩間都係小班

SMCC 6班，3x 人，所以收晒兩間之後，都仲有位收校外生
