Yes I agree, it really depends on what the parents want their kids to learn and how they definite "knowledge". Some parents value academic performance, and want their kids to be competitive, some parents are laid back and only want the kids to have fun and learn more about the environment and life around them. Anfield definitely doesn't force the kids and they don't teach handwriting until later in K1, but rather they have different activities to get their fine motor muscles ready for it. They don't need the kids to learn all the alphabets and number until later in K1 either but the kids would be able to read short paragraphs by themselves by K2. So if you are measuring things using the local school rulers then it may not be your cup of tea.
