Even as a subsidized school, all non PYWYPS students allocated to WYHK, either thru Discretionary or Central Allocation, should be all Band 1 students. All WYHK's Band 2 S1 intakes are from its feeder primary school.
After changing to a DSS school, WYHK still need to face competition in recruiting high quality students with other good schools. If I am a Band 1A student, I will unlikely to take a DSS school offer to give up my chance to try QC or LS unless the offer is from SPCC or DBS. If I am a Band 1B or 1C student, I will probably get the offers from SPC and YWC as well and not necessarily choose WYHK.
Hence, the root cause of WYHK S1 intake quality problem is having a feeder primary school instead of its identity as a subsidized school.Going for DSS won't solve this problem automatically. |
