中三先諗轉IS會唔會太遲?

朋友阿仔中二, 明年升中三, 某中學(大约band 1C至band 2A) 頭十名, 數理好强, integrated science全级第一,但被中文拖低成績,英文中上。因怕考DSE中文和通識會麻麻,想轉D有GCE或IB的學校,但毫無頭绪,有没有什麼建議呢?

There are other IB schools that provide Chinese A + English B instead.

The easiest way to avoid Chinese altogether is to go to UK for GCE A Level at Year 12 (S5).  And your kid can concentrate on his favourite subjects.  Of course you may go anytime earlier than S5 but then he may need to do a second/third language which is probably not Chinese.  Likely to be French, German or Spanish.

Second option is to go Harrow n Kellet at Year 12. Harrow got GCE AL or IAL for different subjects.  I have no idea on Kellet as their Sixth Form is rather new and I didn't explore it further.

The third option is to go to any IS now.  There are many Secondary IS kids leaving HK so chances are there.  All schools have admission process so you don't really have to worry too much if the school gives your son an offer.  Kids adjust pretty quickly.  However, some IS are strict n may not allow your kid to take Chinese at Language B.  You have to check beforehand.

阿女學校上年有Mcs, DGS, la salle 入讀year 9.

中文能力只適用於大中華地區吧？唔見得日韓越星馬泰印要中文強。

事實係有本地名校轉過來的。至於多不多？一年幾個到，out of 百幾人全級。

轉左再算

shatin college 一級少於５個位，是來自本地中學

所以英基不存在很多人本地中學轉來
轉來的多數其他國際學校

我最近都聽聞有學校被IBO challenge 點解咁多中國人考Chinese B。我初時還覺得IS大既學生考 Chinese B 一啲都唔奇。但聽你咁講，可能係指一些 local school 轉IS既學生。

I think ESF offers IGCSE at grade 11 n IB at grade 13.  No A Levels.

撇開Chi A or B, 如入到 say ESF year 10, 讀兩年 GCSE 再上IBDP, 適應時間应足夠, 大前提是人家有位而英文水平可跟得上。

其實數理強中文弱應該A level 著數，even Canada or Australia 個試都好過IB，IB 要寫好多essays 分析,不是就咁背formula計數，要英文好及寫野叻才著數。你兒子在local band 1c/band 2學校英文中上，去到IS可能只是中下（恕我直言）, 加上自幼在local school training 是spoon feeding type, 咁遲先轉IB未必最好。
其實你見IS 香港IB成績很好，其實很多人見吾對路高中前已去晒外國，不過我覺得其實對香港是損失，因為DSE已經不利理科人，香港只會流失更多理科人才。

ESF IB. In Hk, only Kellet and Harrow offer A levels. Better go to UK boarding schools if your son wants to take A levels.

其實大家不用爭論，其實不同學校有不同policy, 亦識得有人因為學校要佢考chi language A而轉校。

Sorry,其實我唔想再爭論，我只再講最後一次，事實真係我身邊有很多應屆and畢業的Local IB學生中文揀左language B.不過講反轉頭，IB真的不易考，如果學習唔夠自覺，英文能力唔夠，真係唔好揀。如果有得揀都揀AL.我囝囝係澳洲讀書，佢間學校每年IB平均成績40左右，佢見到D師兄讀得好辛苦，佢都覺得自己唔夠料揀IB,最後選擇考HSC.
