Cat 1 & 2 is a different thing, you were talking about parents' academic and professional background, which secondary school and university they went to, what degree they studied, what profession they're in, who their employer is, what position they've attained in the company etc.

It is true that school admission procedures change from time to time, so people who are serious in applying to ESF should always check the current situation, and ESF online application system is open for all to see, people can browse through the entire application form at their leisure.

明白解釈。　不過就算有分CAT　１及CAT　２時代、也没有特意SCREEN　PARENTS,我都係１０年前的、看周辺的PARENTS、大部分都係中等家庭、遑論大企業、也不是故意CHALLENGE　ACTIVEHEALTH,只是不想scare away parents who want to try.

I checked the ESF kindergarten and primary school application forms I submitted for my child a few years ago and I can confirm that they only asked for the parents' Occupation, Employer, and Office Telephone Number, and I know they did not even bother to call to verify because it's my one man business and I would have received the call if they did.
It doesn't surprise me if other schools might place a lot of weight on parents' background when deciding who to admit, but ESF certainly does not practice this.

我同你一樣，後來知道係我個小朋友當日表現未如理想，入到去一句說話都無講（雖則平時在熟悉環境好多野講）唯有下年再試啦

Just applied ESF at end of April and luckily got accepted. For parents, they have asked for only occupation and name of employer. I do not recall they asked for parents' education level nor which school / university we attended.
I do not think the parents' education nor employment status is a consideration of ESF. The key is whether the child has sufficient English skills to learn in an ESF environment. Besides this, ESF is rather non-selective in the admission process.

PS - Beekay and Mighty thanks a lot to your comment in relation to the reference letter. Without your insights, we would probably be still struggling with how to apply.

你啱，大把人父母background 好好，但因為random number 後而連interview機會都冇。而我認識的ESF parents, 好多也是普通家庭。

SIS 要做中英數的卷， 絕對係睇成績而收生, 我朋友冇passport 冇背景 但佢個女做卷全部100分, 收咗
