申請英國大學conditional offer考AL有否優勢？

朋友仔今年考DSE，手上已有數間英國名牌大學conditional offer在手。佢叫我幫個女自修考埋GCSE，話咁樣易有offer，佢個仔都係咁。

問題係佢仔讀理科，我女肯定係文科人，自修考A level 會唔會好辛苦？係咪真係考左好d？

我一直以為除左DSE，考埋ielts就得。

請有經驗人士指點。

事實上，PG是反映校內成績的高低，及相對公開試的相關性！

Canadian universities give conditional offers.
The higher the PG, the lower the condition.
A friend's son got offer from University of Toronto Biochemistry with IB 41. The condition is a mere pass in IB.

Most top tier universities ask for SAT, but many other "good universities" no longer make SAT a must.
If you are merely looking for a "safe net", then choose those that do not ask for SAT.
For many reasons, many universities no longer feel SAT ("SAT I" I mean) is that meaningful.

若指定是98, 但只得97,是否一定入不到，定可以再面試後，可以呢？

Top tier universities:  then probably you lose your offer completely.

Second tier universities: you can ask your high school counsellor to write another recommendation for you. I have heard positive results.

I am not familiar with Canadian universities.  I understand that, unless the candidate's final results significantly deviate from his/her predicted score and the minimum publicised admission requirements, his/her offer should be pretty safe.

I didn't express clearly last time.  Oxbridge don't participate in UCAS Clearing.  I meant the offer holders who fail to meet the conditions may appeal directly to Oxbridge instead, but the chances are very slim.

補充一下，牛劍的 conditional offer 正常低於PG，如果CO都達不到，唔收好正常，clearing round 會有更多好成績的學生。

想比較安心，可考慮兼報美國大學，先攞unconditional offer!

Let me use an example to explain the situation.  Oxford normally gives out conditional offers a certain % (say 5%) more than actual places every year.  If 5.1% of those offer holders subsequently fail to satisfy the conditions offered when their results are announced, these candidates may compete for the 0.1% places available after the other places are aptly filled up by offer holders who fulfil their own conditions.  Usually, for competitive universities, failing to meet offer conditions means farewell to the university concerned.

就算同一大學，唔同科已經有唔同要求。一線大學同二三缐大學分別亦會幾大。
真心 ...

也知道有人meet唔到condition所以告吹，不過，考DSE前如果有conditional offer在手，大人同考生都會比較安心，所以都打算搵多d呢方面資料，同呀女一齊傾下未來計劃

會指定要有幾多5或者4，有些大學的學系更會指明某科必須要某grade

知道有case係牛津給了conditional offer，指明要幾多分，更指明相關科目幾多分，不幸地那位小朋友雖然DSE考得好好，但指定科目低了一個grade，最後大學withdraw offer，後來小朋友入了港大Law

不過，也聽聞有些大學是有得傾的，如果成績相差不太遠，仍然可以靠面試加分
