Search "Brass embouchure", you can find in wiki this paragraph:

While performing on a brass instrument, the sound is produced by the player buzzing his or her lips into a mouthpiece. Pitches are changed in part through altering the amount of muscular contraction in the lip formation. The performer's use of the air, tightening of cheek and jaw muscles, as well as tongue manipulation can affect how the embouchure works.

我中學時都玩過兩三年tuba，估計是你女女咀唇用錯力，把咀唇壓在mouthpiece壓得太緊了。贊成給老師message，請老師留意一下，有方法可以練習和改善的。

has nothing to do with blowing, but with the pressure the mouthpiece exerts on her lips.

同意oboe所講， brass唔係吹的，是用唇震，還是分上下唇。我吹木管的，但識少少少少少少銅管。不要以為都是管樂所以差不多，其實是壓根兒不同的東西。唯一相同，是大家都要夠氣。

我多嘴答。你女應該真係吹錯。我從來無見過紫色咀。我親戚由6歲開始吹吹左咁多年銅管我都未見過。

I regret that I haven't taken into consideration factors like history and sound when choosing an instrument because I knew nothing about it. After watching a demonstration of different instruments, my child picked three and tried them (sorry oboe was not on her list). Clarinet suits her as she could produce a sound naturally and easily at first try.

Beside, even if the child stops learning, the instrument is not a write-off - you can always sell it.

agree. the instrument price vs tuition fee is far incomparable, unless one buys it and takes only just a few lessons and quits.
