I was so struggling of picking FIS nor another IS offer. But dropped off FIS offer finally. FIS is good, but the most concern is not much Chinese in the curriculum.

Hi all, I am still struggling.  We have to pay CAIS by Mar 1.  FIS is more well known while CAIS is a bit niche and more local but they have good Chi program.  Me and my hubby had a debate earlier and we opt for different schools.  Our first choice is in fact ISF.  Say if we fail to get an offer from ISF this year, which school do u think would give us better chance to transfer to ISF (or maybe CDNIS) in future?  Can anyone give any advice?  Thanks much!

FIS deposit is non refundable but $25K is not a big amount.  CAIS required a debenture of $450K and 15% penalty will be applied for withdrawal after payment deadline.  We are still waiting for ISF results although we know that chance is slim.  Actually we live in HK side, both FIS and CAIS are in Kowloon so travel time is similar.  Both have new campus coming up so facilities not a concern.  The major difference is the language exposure.  FIS is very westernized with good English standard supplemented with French as a second language while CAIS got a strong Chinese program.  Me and my husband are still struggling...

From what you said, its sounds ESF is more suitable for her, looks like she needs to delay one year in FIS. If it is FIS y1 vs ESF yr 1, maybe it's different consideration.

Many thanks for your reply

She is mature and she surely can do Year 1.  In fact, she said it's baby stuff when she went for reception interview as she is now in K2.  It is just that FIS' cutoff is aug 31 and she is a September baby

We are looking for academic and better Chinese at the same time

For ESF, it is glenealy, but we can go to West Island in secondary as address is flexible

Appreciate your thoughts

Is there any reason you want to do reception instead of y1? How is your kid maturity and social skills? Your kid is boy or girl? Also which ESF school are you referring to? What's your priority, e.g. Ethnic mix or academic? Learning Chinese? You need to know more to decide.
