學校俾家長嘅信，講點解『招聘』校長。
Dear Parents,
HKBU A-School has today published an advertisement for recruitment of Principal. This has
arisen from the expiry of the contract of Dr. Wil Chan as Chief Principal of the school. From the
point of view of the School Management Board, Dr. Wil Chan's post was designed to be absorbed
and taken over upon its expiry by Dr. Benjamin Chan, who has been ably leading the Secondary
School of A-School for the past 9 years. The School Management Board had in fact endorsed such a
plan, namely for Dr. Chan to seamlessly take over any additional duty previously in the purview of
the Chief Principal Dr. Wil Chan and to assume the de facto role of Chief Principal.
The School Management Board does not regard this process as a process of "replacement of
principal" and therefore maintains that open recruitment is not necessary. However, the EDB
maintains a different view. In order to comply with EDB requirements in the appointment process of
the Principal of the HKBU A School, A-School is therefore obliged to go through the process of
advertising for recruitment. The School Management Board affirms its continued support of the
work of Dr Benjamin Chan in HKBU A-School while it undertakes to keep an open mind in the
recruitment process as is required for it to discharge its duty.
