Cara2006: May I ask why your cousin switch their kids out of ESF? What are the things that they don't like about ESF?

ICN's can only be bought if you have a child there, so it's the other way around.  The corporate version of it (which is much higher in cost) does say "entitling its holder to nominate and reserve a place for one child of its director or employee for enrollment at the School", but it's the same wording as the ICN, so my understanding is that it's holds a spot but doesn't guarantee admission, i.e. your child still has to pass the interview, and I don't believe it gets you priority.

No issues from your school/principal?  Does your school offer primary?

No matter the reference form needs to be reviewed by the principal or not, the principal will definitely note the fact that you have another plan for your kid.  
I requested a reference form for my kid. I have to say that many teachers, if not all, know the fact that I have applied for another school for my kid.  My kid's school do have primary school.  Negative impact at the school's selection process is anticipated.
You need courage to make the decision.

This was exactly my case, the reference letter was prepared by the home teacher and reviewed by the principal before it send out. I did it in both K1 and K2.

the school that my daughter is in now, the teachers need to consult the Principal and need to be reviewed by the Principal so that's tough

yes but some schools the teachers need to go through the principal.........which can create issues.

I had done this a couple times and all the teachers understood and were very helpful on it. Just tell them you are applying for xxx school and need your help to fill in a reference form for my kid.

I have this problem too. It makes me hesitate to apply for some schools which require this reference form, I am in nursery now and the school guarantee a k1 spot. If the school know I am applying for other k1 now will I look "un-loyal".

吾知Cais係點，但有些你無比埋reference form係當你無完成申請程序的。
其實幼稚園都有見慣呢d情况，幼稚園讀3年終歸係要走，老師都吾會太介意。

Is it mandatory to provide a student reference form filled by existing school to CAIS?  It appears to be very odd if my child is studying at K2 and requesting her existing school to complete a student reference form into the Preparatory class.  It is almost like telling her existing school that my daughter plans to quit ..... its okay if they guarantee acceptance but they do not.....and it may affect the impression of my daughter at her existing school.
