真道書院一學生IB試滿分

除中學文憑試外，不少港生亦透過IB（International Baccalaureate，國際文憑）試爭取入大學。陸續有學校公布其學生考獲的IB成績，其中香港華人基督教聯會真道書院更有一名學生取得滿分。

有43位學生應考的香港華人基督教聯會真道書院，除了有一名學生取得45分滿分外，亦有4位學生取得44分；另外有2名學生取得43分。

應考的學生之中，42.9%考得40分或以上；81%考得35分或以上；97.6%考獲30分或以上；平均分為38.4分。

至於拔萃男書院今年有59人應考，為歷屆最多；有4位學生取得44分；6位學生取得42分；6位學生取得43分；平均分數是39分。若以百分率計算，有49%考生，考獲40分或以；35分或以上的佔90%。

大家比較不同學生/學校的 IB 分數時，請看看 IB 分數的官方分析:-

(1) English B    ::: 有 65% 拿 7/6 ； >95% 拿 5/6/7  ;  99% 拿 4/5/6/7  ;  差不多馮考必合格
(2) Chinese B   ::: 有 45% 拿 7 ； >75% 拿 6/7
(3) Spanish Ab Initio  ::: 有 40% 拿 7/6 ；90% 拿 4/5/6/7  ;  差不多馮考必合格
(4) Economics   ::: 有 13% 拿 7
(5) Geography   ::: 有 15% 拿 7
(6) History   ::: 有 2% 拿 7

選科對 IB 的總分有佷大影響。有些本地中學考 English B ； 國際學校考 Chinese B ； 甚至有國際學校的香港學生怕考中文而改考 Spanish Ab Initio。 這或許可以解釋為何香港的 IB 成績可不斷提升，大家都學會了怎樣拿高分的遊戲規則。

外國的大學都不會太計較你的 IB 科目及分數，海外生學費$$$比 IB 分數還緊要，有聽聞交海外生學費的學生比本土學生的 offer 少兩分，不竟英國頂尖大學的 offer 都是 IB 41 分或以下。IB 38 分可以在英國/澳州大部份大學讀 medicine，在香港少過42 分連面試機會也沒有。

HKU/CUHK 的神科收生就不同啦，差一分就是一分，當同分時就要比科目了。 HKU/Law 不接受 English B，CUHK/Medicine 也給同時考 English A/Chinese A 的學生加分。如想在香港讀神科，報考English B/Chinese B 的學生可能是未開波讓半球。

我看到情況, IB越來越難在港求大學, 原因, 由不知IB是什麼, 現在至少聽過吧! 周圍有IB補啦! 周圍視IB 為NON-J, 圍攻收IB生不公平, 如果我的小朋友現在才準備升中, 我會選AP, AL. 個人感覺, 再多幾年, 無運行.
好了, 仍然IB呀, 請正常少少, 修MATH SL啦, 如會中文, 中文A啦, 英文A啦!
試想想, 以前聽到四十幾就話勁, 衣家好似正常姐, 亞婆都會識追問下HL是什麼呀...........
大學收生一定會比較六科的組合, 正如IGCSE/GCE早就不看中文, 如果修EASY 科其實會蝕章.當貨源多的時候, 45狀元都要比人問什麼組合, 找出真狀元, 或超級狀元, 我知道以前ESF有人4 科HL, 做埋狀元(不只一個, 是小學升上), 得意在他們沒有主動在受訪時說出, 好低調! 大學自然會慢慢再選IB人, 以前就話要吸引班TALK得既留港代表HK, 吓, 原來衣家係你地都搶住留喎.
美國名牌大學早就有一分數轉換方法, 不同科不同值, 如MATH HL 好值分.

It depends. Some admission tutors don't care about it at all but some may turn down a student based on that factor alone. I know an actual case where a law applicant to LSE with IB score of 43 got rejected because (as stated in the rejection letter) Chinese B is not considered the appropriate challenge for him.

I was also merely trying to point out that you do not judge whether a course is easy or hard by looking at the % of 7.

咁事實， Math Studies 一定係比 Math SL 易取 7。

Strongly agree with you!

My daughter is not strong nor weak in Maths. But she has no interest in Maths. For university programmes, she don't like medicine, engineering, science and business. She only likes law and humanities. So, she changed from Maths SL to Math. Studies after the first term, and secured a strong 7 in Math. Studies.

In terms of the curriculum content, Maths SL seems to be a subset of Maths HL.  However, Maths Studies SL is not a subset of Maths SL.  Maths Studies SL is designed for students with main interests lie outside the field of mathematics.  IBO hopes that in the students' final experience of being taught formal mathematics, students can use their own inherent, logical thinking skills and do not need to rely on standard algorithms and remembered formulae.

Of course we can easily say that the maths abilities among HL 7, SL 7 & Studies SL 7 students are different.  However, I don't agree that a student chooses Studies SL in order to get a higher level is cheating.  It's unfair to those students.  They have clear idea about their own future which is good.  If not, they would choose SL to play safe.

I appreciate IBO to have the course Maths Studies SL that cater for different kinds of students.

The reason is simple. Most (not all) students that chose Math Studies are those that are not particularly strong in Math. To people that have no interest or weak in Math, they would definitely find Math Studies not that easy at all. So it is quite meaningless to judge which Math is easy by looking at the % of 7.

剛查閱May 2014統計，29235人 考math studies, 38926 考 math SL, mean score 同是4.5， 考studies 未必易取高分，取7分只得7％，反而SL有8％

Math studies有大家聽得多的：algebra, geometry, trigonometry, probability, function, sequence, series, financial maths
有大家少聽D既 :differential calculus, statistics: linear regression, chi square test for independence, sets, logic

即是話, 一個DSE core + m1/m2, 沒有進修直接考一定拿不到5,6,7 (第一, 很多課程未學過, 第二, Ti calculator 不會用, 第三 ,grade boundary都好高, 第四 無MC無得撞), 如DSE core唔讀去考.....不用說了

總結: 他們是要讀的, 是有課程, 應用數多, 夠讀商科. 最後我都是建議SL好過studies, 因studies不見得易好多, 但感覺差D.

如學生已有目標學科，而該學科又接受Math Studies，就可有機會拉高整體分數，遊戲規則如是，特別英國和香港大學始終看重分數，我亦聴聞math studies 亦不是想像中咁易，近年話深咗。如想去美國take math studies 就可能被視為不敢挑戰自己
