Thank you so much for your information, as I got the letter from kingston, they will accept my daughter application for playgroup in the coming august. I think I will finish kinder and try ESF in primary school, as i think kingston is a good backup (I start other post in this forum, and many parents, like yours, gave positive feedback).

I also concern about high school location, hubby hubby,  is it true that they will have a new school in Tai po? where did you get this information? As I asked admisration office

My girl has studied in Kingston for 3 years since pg, this is really a very good school. The teachers are very nice, students mainly speak in English. It's true that many Kingston parents are looking for other IS although they like the school very much. The main reason is that the parents (including me) are much concern about the location of its secondary school. Although all students need to pay for 100k levy cost, this is worthy if this does not cost too much to a family. First, children can really learn a lot in a very enjoyable and inspiring environment; second, KIS is a good primary school which can be the back-up choice; third, most Kingston kinders can successfully receive a good offer in other primary IS. Many Kingston parents think that if KIS has its own secondary schools located in Kowloon side or a better location, they would not look for other IS.

Hi may I know if u apply pg ? Or nursery?
I applied Kingston for n class for my son who's 10 months  ...

My daughter interviewed for playgroup. I heard from teacher if you give up the playgroup offer, you can still have charge for kinder or nursery. But the class size for playgroup and kinder is similar, so they may be not have vacancy for kinder. because of the levy, the students usual would not leave the school before.

I also think 100k levy is a lot, as my dream school is ESF, therefore i think this is too expensive for a back up. I also have a friend's son study in kingston, she said the language is really good and they take good care for kids.

good luck, hope to be a classmate soon

I applied Kingston for n class for my son who's 10 months old. They called and ask if I'm interested in pg . I turned down the offer as I got no one to bring him to pg . And indeed the 100k is really a lot for me, not sure if it's worth it or not

Anyway I will see if they call me for n class interview in the future....

I got friends whose kids are from Kingston . They said its a good school. But they need to worry about the high school section. It's at Sa tou kok, which is very far away from the center of HK.
Most of the students at Kingston will try to apply other IS for kinder . I guess it's usually not the first choice of many parents.

What do you want to know? I know there are students moving in from TT, Anfield and YC (but seldom the reverse) so i presume it is either because of the primary back up or they consider kingston better. Never been to other schools and so cannoit compare.

But if $100k is a big concern to you, you may consider staying in TT and try your luck at esf kinder later.

I would like to know more details about the school, as I will go to interview for playgroup tomorrow ...
The school is quite good, and so is its primary school. It is a small school in which the headmaster and staff knows the name of pretty much all students. Student to teacher ratio is good 8:1.

Of course, beside this, the other main attraction is the through train primary school (and secondary school if you don't mind the distance) which gives you a back up plan if you aim for other international primary school. So it really depends on how much you weigh the $100k against this back up plan (plus another $100k to be paid shortly after commenement of K2 for primary school entry, or probably a higher sum a few years down the road).

I would like to know more details about the school, as I will go to interview for playgroup tomorrow. The staff said my daughter will get N and K1 if she pass interview in tomorrow. I am hesitated because I need to pay 100000 for levy, do you think is it worth? hows the teacher quality?

I have applied Kingston too. I handed in a few months ago for n class. I heard chance is slim if kid ...
Not many people leave at the 2 year class, perhaps less than 10%.

However, a lot more will leave after PN and will not progress to K1 , some to through train IS like CDNIS, Harrow, some to ESF kinder, some to local stream. My guess is at least 1/3.

Also, i notice  that starting from PG class joining in 2014, a disproportionate percentage of students are big boys or girls born from Nov to Feb (cut off for Kingston is Oct 31), and i guess most of the smaller ones (born in June to Oct) enter via siblings priority. So, there has been quite a change in this unspoken school policy recently.

If yours is not a big boy or girl, chance is almost nil.

Not many people will join at Nursery because you still need to buy the non refundable 100k debentures even studying for just 3 years.

Yes, the reason is most kids from Pg will directly promote to n class and so unless there are ppl leaving, there are almost no places for n class new joiners.  I applied for PG and was lucky to get in.
