UK State boarding school

找到一些舊Post 關於State school, 希望有多的update 的資料, 女兒舊年年尾報了4 間State schools 2015 Sixth Form entry , 分別是Steyning Grammar School (boarding), Sir Rogers Manwood (boarding), Weald of Kent Grammar (day school), St Gregory Cathlolic School (day school).  4 間都有offer. 最後選了Steyning 因阿女喜歡Steyning 既boarding facilities and enrichment activies.  其實唔知有冇選錯, 如論Ranking, Sir Roger and Weald of Kent Grammar 都比Steyning 高, 但我相信Happy school life 比排名重要, 最緊要阿女盡力應付考試就好了.

我見一些舊Post 有提State boarding school, 請問可否share 下學校生活, 有什麼要注意?  有家長小朋友讀緊Steyning Grammar school 嗎?  謝謝!

I can't remember exactly, from memory when my son did the interview with them late last year I record it's around 5 for both.

In terms of boarding activities they are similar. But in terms of Sports activities RGS has more to offer; it is famous for Rugby, has an excellent gym - beautiful view over looking its rugby field, indoor swimming pool vs. Adams' outdoor pool, offers golf and Eton five. But in saying that, Adams has a hugh beautiful park for its pupils to use for cross country run and ball games, and a military looking hut for shooting practice.

The school website shares more details. Both are very good schools.

Parents will be wise to stay away from this school. Our son was a student there and he was subjected to racist discrimination by the school.

開頭我自己個女住宿係經overseas student living 個website 去 apply accommodation.
大家可以去睇下。

Thank you! We are applying quite a bit for insurance sake, but hope one near London will hive him an offer as my family is in London.

IC, my son didn't apply Lancaster, as it is too north.  He only applied Adams & RGS, both schools did offer at that time.

Yes, also applying other schools including Adam, Lancaster Royal Grammar School etc..Lancaster is so nice that they sent us a set of past entrance test papers after we submitted our applications.

IC, pray for you.  By the way, do you apply any other schools?  Like Adams Grammar, AA is the agent of this school as well.

For RGS' application, yes, AA is the school agent.  You may contact AA for arrangements.  I recall that my son applied it around September.  The boarding director will fly to HK to do interview with applicants.  I remember, the school offers 2 boarding places. There were around 10 something (applications), roughly.
For interview, no need to prepare specifically.  From my oberservation, the entrance test and which school is the boy studying are important factors for his selection.  Hope my info could help you.

My son is applying state boarding school this September. RGS is our first choice. We contacted RGS directly and they advised us to contact Academic Asia. Can you share your son's process at the time of application please.
