What do you buy in local schools?
And what's your plan for the secondary? Change to international? ... As of now. There are a couple of factors we have taken intoconsideration when we decided to send my daughter to a local school. The moreprominent ones are: The opportunity to learn more Chinese; and I think mostimportantly, my daughter may benefits more from a more “structured” and “instructionalbased” types of classroom. We have two older kids in the international schools,IB schools to be more specific, we know how the classroom works to some extent.My daughter is equally inquisitive, out spoken as her older siblings, but whenit comes to learning in school, she seems to learn better in a more structured andinstructional based classroom. She just needs more explicit guidance. That’sher style and that’s her strength in someway! For as long as she can survive in the local school, we aremore than happy to leave her there, but we will also prepare her well to moveto IS, in case we need to. Many families find it quite challenging switching theirchildren from the local to IS schools, not only because of the English languagecapability, but also how much they know about how IS work, how the kids in ISlearn, and what to expect in their learning, and etc.. When they havemisconception and wrong expectations, the transition would inevitably more adverseeventually. However, we are lucky that we are aware of all these given our ownexperience with IS. So I am confident that my daughter would have less problemstransiting to IS in future. Our family is more keen for international school, because weare mobile and it’s definitely much easier in terms of transition when we moveto another country. There are beauties about local schools, besides those harshstereotypes. |
