Plus, one must consider there are 4 ESF kindergartens but only 1 of them is on HK Island. (there will be 5 soon, the new one in Tung Chung) Given there are 5 ESF primary and only 1 ESF KG, there are much fewer students who has interview priorities on the HK lsland side. On the other hand, there are 3-4 ESF KG feeding into 4 ESF primary schools on the Kowloon / NT side, so a good number of spots are taken by those with interview priorities.

You can plan to move into areas like old peak road in the mid levels... Chances to get into Glenealy is high

ESF primary schools in Kowloon and NT tend to be more difficult than those on HK island.  For historical reasons, ESF primary schools are not evenly distributed according to local HK population, they were created to serve mainly the ex-pat community, so they have 5 schools on HK island but only 4 covering the whole of Kowloon and NT.  In a way the situation is reflected in the messages in this forum too, we see more messages saying children failed to gain admission to ESF primary schools in Kowloon or NT but very few saying the same for schools on HK island.

So if you really want to use the residential address to better your child's chances, move to HK island.

我的個人意見:
SJS好似有5班；BHS只有3班；
雖然好多家長會跨區接送小朋友到九龍番K (雖然九龍塘以外的IS Kindergarten越開越多),但好大部份申請人地址都係九龍；加埋有d人係唔係有冇心都報下名(加左報名費後水份或者少左呢part)；
九龍2間(KJS同BHS)理論上年年好多人報。

除左易唔易入外；日後接送也要考慮；校車只cover Catchment area。你唔係住係度便要自己攪掂。

One more thing, if the demand is too skewed towards a particular school in a particular year, they do transfer some applicants to another school to balance out the demand, it is not often done but it is done.

Since which ESF primary school one applies to is determined by catchment zones, there isn't really a "most desirable school" as such.  If a particular school receives more applicants than others, it simply means there are more applicants falling within the catchment of that school, and not because that school is more liked than others.
