要全面英語、應該揀英普班更適合。kv算主流班有net都係英文堂先有、諗唔明有乜咁大幫助。

但是不爭的事實是現在有很多直資, 私小都對英文的溝通能力有一定的要求. 朋友的兒子是KV內的八星(六班內選八個outstanding的學生), 結果今年考直資私小便全軍覆沒. 原因是不同學校都對英語的溝通能力有一定的要求,不只是聽,還要是講及表達意見, 這情況下比三年來每天浸在英語環境中的小朋友輸蝕了點. 我想KV應察覺到這趨勢才今年開始加NET.

好多英文、唔想獻羞所以打中文。

樓上所講嘅、已經以講緊讀英普好定英粵好咁。個人睇法係英普班雙班主任的確net會好好多、但如果英文只係一個課堂咁net定local就唔大影響。

One does not need the NET teacher to speak to him/her 1:1 in order to pick up the language.  The key "weapon" is the language environment.  Anyway I do not believe in taking extra lessons outside school to "learn" a language.

I share exact sentiments with all of your comments.  In my opinion, language development is the most important foundation at this stage.  Other academic or knowledge can come later.  With a good command of language, it makes all learning more effectively and interesting.  Anyone can challenge this, but one cannot deny the importance of English being the first international language.  Every NET English speaker has her/his own accent and that should not be a big concern as long as she/he speaks proper English.  We cannot "learn" a language, we have to be immersed in that environment to pick up the language.  Considering that most of the local families speak Cantonese at home, school becomes the crucial media for the kids to pick up English.

Of course everyone's expectation of English is different.  I personally consider it to be very important.  I am sure KV is a good school and is popular for good reasons, but those reasons are not what I am pursuing.  Again everyone's expectations and priorities are different, so there is no need to argue actually, but just positive sharing and perhaps you will be able to see it from a different perspective.

係啊! 語文真係浸出黎, 只有日日都接觸, 先會講得好!
幸好我女而家間幼稚園既NET講既英文都幾好聽, 所以我女既英文口音都唔錯~

其實每所學校都有自己嘅强弱項，無謂爭吵。

SC & 維記 英語環境好

看家長有什麼要求，就找怎樣的學校！

如Target 傳統官津名小，kv is one of the best.  喜歡communication 和presentation 的，vic 和 st cat are without doubt better choices.   Apple vs orange, compare 冇意思。

別看回頭是對的, 我只是質疑所謂外籍教師的成效

本地老師可以英文好差, 也可以英文很好, 懂得鼓勵小朋友自己對學習語文有興趣, 這才是長遠小朋友對小朋友好的

相反, 外籍老師母語是英文, 不理解學習英語作為第二語言的難處. 最重要的是, 我不相信家長希望小朋友有古怪的蘇格蘭或英國中部口音. 吾係歧視, 連英國人都會今樣笑自己人. 如果真係要 外籍老師, 不如要求高點, 搵個有純正牛津腔的老師

大家可以有不同的意見, 我單純想指出別盲信外籍老師的優點

Kentville parents never deny the importance verbal communication / presentation skills.   They are simply looking at different things (eg Chinese, maths, transition to p1) when weighing up the strength of different schools.

yes, KV is abit late for having NET...however, their primary school result is also one of the best kindergarten....and their Egnlish level even when there was no NET before, its very high also, totally enough for P.1....when they havent announced about they have NET this year...every year still over 8000 applications from different kind of parents...
