If you have the time, I would do two separate things.
For leisure reading by themselves, I would let them read what they want without reading out loud. This is to let them enjoy the story and build their interest in reading. It is a good idea to talk with them about the book a little to gauge how much they understand. But don't turn this into a questioning session since this will take away the fun of reading.
I would also ask them to read aloud an easier book once in awhile to make sure that they actually know how to sound out all the words and there there are no words that they are reading incorrectly. But don't need to do this often and also should use easier books than leisure reading since this requires 100% decoding.
