學界一直傳聞，認為高考英文考獲合格（E級），在國際英語水平測試（IELTS）中應可考獲6分，以後學生不用再「估估下」。因為考評局今日公佈研究結果，將中學文憑試英文科的評級與IELTS的評級比對，發現假如在IELTS取得6.5，便等同在DSE取得第4級。不過，即使在DSE中考獲最高級的5**級，亦只相當於IELTS的約7.5分，達不到最高的9分。

去年首屆文憑試完成後，考評局以抽樣方式選出約400名在英國語文科取得第2至5**級的學校考生參與研究，邀請他們在暑假期間參加IELTS測試。研究結果顯示，文憑試英國語文科第2級對應IELTS 的整體分數約為4.79 至5.07 分，而5**級的對應分數則達7.51 至7.77 分。

04年考評局亦就IELTS與本港英語考試作相關研究，發現當時高考考獲A級考生，在應考IELTS時最高可考獲8.3，即使只在會考考獲A級，亦有考生考獲8.1分。

考評局回應指，今次及04年的研究，高考和DSE取得最高等級(A/5**)的考生，對應IELTS的整體分數亦大致界乎7分至8分水平。

我IELT考8 , 當年AL 都是c. 當年AL英文拿A好難，IELT其實淺好多！

我AL 攞D,IELT攞7.5,所以考評局既對比唔係好啱

武航  原來我CAP 起左劍橋去年個PAGE，去年真係require IELTS over 7, 細分7。唔知幾時今年改左 IELTS over 7.5, 細分7. 幸好未痴得晒。


Never mind.

But my wife and boy told me last year LSE also requested for 7.5 and 7.0 per section when they attended the admission talks in British Council. After announcing the language requirement, 1/3 parents and students left the room.......

If my memory won't fool me, Oxbridge and LSE need 7.5 average and each part not less than 7.0.

本港大學畢業生平均其實亦只有6.72分，中學文憑學生的平均可能更低。
另外，英國大部份大學只要求6.5; 牛劍及政經要7。

I think the standards are just uneven.  It is quite easy to get 100 on TOEFL but quite difficult to get 4 on AP English Literature.  The purpose of all of these tests also seem to be different with TOEFL meant for English as a Second Language students and AP for the best English first language speakers.

我只是奇怪HKEAA為何做HKDSE VS IELTS的比較，結果是對HKDSE是好是壞，要有識之士自己判斷。如果是我就算做都只作內部參考。
及後，我有興趣了解其他英文試之間的對比，發現UST的要求，讓大家參考。

當你提到  But studying English at the university is a very different thing.  You would learn good report/essay writing techniques, presentation skills, etc. for future use.  我更清楚明白當年選擇lB是正確的，亦明白某些學科較願意收錄lB學生的原因。

TOEFL  internet based 100 = paper based 600.

600 actually doesn't mean much.   Back then it was the minimum score for the foreign students to get into some good schools in the US.  But studying English at the university is a very different thing.  You would learn good report/essay writing techniques, presentation skills, etc. for future use.

But wait a second, "科大英文exemption" - is it equivalent to the undergraduate level English or English as a second language level? the course I am talking about is the standard English course.
