點評美加神級名校


呢篇文試著點評美加各大學。實為隨手所得，未加仔細研究同求証。文章里面有很多個人偏
見，皆因報考大學無數，多嘗試，有成功，也有失敗。希望給後學以此為引，升學路上少走
彎路。

美國大學一般以www.usnews.com排名为准。當然每科各大學都各自有長處。建議先去以上網站看
下。

何為美國神級名校？
美國有八間長青籐大學，間間有很長的歷史，排名一般在二十名以內，各有所長。由於時代
變遷，我把它們與其他大學一起比較，分三個大級別：神級，明星級，名校。


細分九級別：
一流綜合神級名校，
二流偏科神級名校，
明星級學校，
超值明星級學校（只一間），
一般名校，
一流公立名校，
二流公立名校，
香港人知道的名校，
不知名的特殊名校。



一流綜合神級名校 (排名按先后)
1）哈佛 Harvard - 商醫政強
2）耶魯 Yale - 心理人文
3）普林斯頓 Princeton - 傳統理學，如經濟（John Nash）, 物理（愛因斯坦）
4）哥倫比亞大學 Columbia - 新聞，人文學和金融界關係
5）史丹福 Stanford - 工商皆強


二流偏科神級名校（排名不分先后）
6）MIT - 偏工科
6）CIT - 偏工科
6）U Penn - 偏商科


明星級學校（排名不分先后）
10）U of Chicago - Econ, Finance in Future Trading Market
10）Duke University - Bio Tech
10）Northwestern University - MBA
10）Cornell University - Agriculture Engineering


超值明星級學校（只一間）
Rice University 「大米學校」只有大概八千幾人，學費最平，入學比哈佛更難。


一般名校
Carnegie Mellon University 工科好
Johns Hopkins University 醫科好
Dartmouth College 我只識曾子墨
Brown University 政治好
Washington U in St. Louis 生化好


一流公立名校（排名不分先后）
U of Virginia
U of California - Berkeley
U of Michigan - Ann Arbor
請注意后兩間學校是要指定校園(Campus)先好，其他校園就沒有甘勁。


二流公立名校（排名不分先后）
UCLA

不知名的特殊名校
Georgia Institute of Technology 超強工科研究院
University of Rochester 傳統機械工程，有可口可樂公司贊助
College of William and Mary 超老歷史，是美國四大歷史悠久學府之一。其他三間是哈
佛，耶魯，普林斯頓。
U of Illinois - Urbana-champaigne 傳統工科名校，土木力學工程超強

Waterloo now has the best undergrad archi program in Ontario. Carleton is second, followed by Ryerson.

These school do not exactly rank very high but they have individual programs that are very good.

Simon Fraser has a very good engineering department and their grad school has very impressive researches. Victoria has one of the best law schools in canada. I am not familiar with Northern BC. But they are one of the schools that have medical school, and universities that have med school can usually attract elite students going there for pre-med.

So really depends on what you are looking for. Some people prefer "overall ranking", so UBC, UT and McGill would be their top choices. These universities are constantly ranked top 3 within canada. However these schools are huge and not all the programs are really that good. For example, Waterloo does not rank very high but their math and engineering programs are some of the best.

MIT is said to have the best engineering program.  Some other universities like Cal Tech, Berkeley have very good engineering programs too. A lot of US universities have good engineering programs However, being "good programs" means admission grades are high too.

好似ESL的物體。如果想入神校，不如你先考英文托福過六百，SAT過千五仲有用播。
