Not necessarily but it is true that it is even harder for HK Chinese to get in. A current CDNIS parent told me that the primary principal has indicated that the policy is to intake more western students. In lower primary the ratio of HK Chinese has dropped to roughly 30% compared to 50% in upper primary. Unless you have a Canadian passport, there is a high chance for the ones on the wait list to remain on the wait list. Chances to get in at secondary will be higher though as students will start going overseas.

It seems that CDNIS has become a school for celebrity kids.  I saw another famous actor with his kid at the interview session just last month.

I received wait list.  Actually I applied for Pre reception and not waiting lost as well.  Unfortunately I did not get a response forbade entire year and this year waiting list again.  I really have no hope.  It seems like unless we have siblings, connection or lots of money to donate like hacken lee's or nicholas tse's son, the chance to get in is very slim.

I have received a wait list letter.. the same as "Reject" letter?

Seem like CDNIS sent out the rejection letter first. It could be a good news for those who haven't receive letter.

My son is also rejected, but given it is pre-reception with only 40 spots, mainly given to the staffs' kids, we'll try again next year. Heard that without Cdn passport they wouldn't give you an interview even! (too many applications).

Quite happy with the Montessori school he's currently attending though so it's good i get to keep him there for another year, but hopefully not for too long since it does not have primary affiliations...

We applied for reception.  The result is expected but i just hoped for miracle!  My girl will stay in her current kindie to continue k2 and look for primary schools 2 years later.

Sorry to hear that!  Were you applying for reception or pre reception?   What's your plan for your kid?  Sorry to ask so many questions!

A balance of probabilities might be more reasonable as we are not criminalizing the culprit here...hehe

Yes. Select and being selected, it is fair enough.

I know this sounds naive but just to give the school the benefit of the doubt, perhaps the rejected sibling really wasn't a good fit for that school and while his brother/sister may thrive in that particular educational environment, he/she may be suited to something completely different.

Regardless, I think most parents would find it hard to reject a good/highly coveted school place because a spot wasn't offered to the sibling.
