Thank you so much for your sharing. Being a first time mum, and with all the twisted competition now ...
I understand completely of your feeling towards the school application as a new mother.  I was experienced the same, too.  Scared that I did miss anything and if it was already too late.  I even did an excel table showing the progress of all targeted schools' application.  Mine is also a dragon bb in July.
Thank god that my boy got an offer and will commence his PG this August.  Honestly, I also think it's too earlier for him to go to school.  Given that we are working parents, prefer to take him to do whatever we like during weekend, he doesn't have many friends at similar age, the pampering of inlaws and the keen school competition, etc.  We finally decided to send him to the 2 days PG.

I believe our kids will take an offer which we want in the end. Don't panic and good luck.

Thank you so much for your sharing. Being a first time mum, and with all the twisted competition nowadays, I sometimes don't know whether I over worry or whether I have already missed things out. I agree there's no need to send children to playgroups too early, it's simply to please some crazy kindergarten interviewers! It's good you've found the path for your kids. All the best with your children!

Hi pppwong! Was just reading the thread and thought I could share a bit of experience.

I have two boys, one's 4 and one's closing in on 1 (yes dragon baby like yours!).  My inlaws looked after my older son full time between year 0-2, speaking in Cantonese mixed with Shanghainese dialect.

At age 2 I sent him to a full day bilingual pre-nursery class; prior to that I didn't take him to any playgroup because, well, I can't be bothered. (I didn't have to go to playgroups when I was young!)  We are working parents and would much prefer to go to parks and fresh air with our children than classrooms on the weekends.

At age 3, daddy and I FINALLY made up our minds to have our son go with the IS path, so we sent him to a full day international K1 class.  Unfortunately, we were not informed that he was the only int'l K1 student in the entire kindergarten, so in reality what he had for the past year was half day of int'l and half day of bilingual classes.  Needless to say we were not pleased, but felt that it would be too cruel to move him to another school and lose all his friends again.

At age 4, we were informed on very short notice that the kindergarten is not going to have an international K2 class due to insufficient enrolment.  We were very annoyed and very worried because it was May and all of the normal deadlines were long past.  Fortunately, we "found" Anfield and are lucky enough to be able to have our son study there for K2 this August.

I have spoken on several occasions to Anfield KLT's principal, who has been very kind and helpful.  Yesterday I asked her if I could have an application for my younger son to join Anfield next August, and she said in a gentle but firm tone, "Let's get your older boy settled in here first, and we'll have tons of time to deal with that later on."

To sum it all up, I just hope to pass some relief to you in terms of:

(1) the language issue, which is that children are amazingly quick learners.  My older boy went from barely knowing his alphabets to being very good in vocabulary over the last year, despite the situation.  He's not very good with speaking in full sentences, but I am sure he will improve as he grows;

(2) the dragon baby issue, you are correct in saying heavy competition I am sure.  I have no real experience with Anfield yet, but so far I have been very pleased with them.  The fact that the principal appears to be very hands-on is a big plus in my mind.  Emails sent to the school were dealt with in a very timely manner as well.  I attended the induction meeting yesterday and my initial impression of Anfield is that they have a fair mix of discipline and cultivating creativity, really more in line with the schooling style I had when I was going through elementary and high schools.

Last but not least, good luck with your endeavours!

Hi everyone! Finally!!! I found the forum where a lot more parents are talking about Anfield!!!
I'm sending my boy to Anfield LGV this August as well just like minirat.
Can you share where you sent your kind for primary?? I know they have Anfield primary in Tai Po but its a relatively new school so I haven't heard anything particular good about it..

The other parents out there, are you all planning for int'l stream? Is Anfield good enough to prep the kid for Cantonese interview in DSS or private local??

We plan to send him off to the US after primary... So would like him to learn adequate amount if Chinese ( just the basic write and read actually) before he goes abroad...I'm currently considering LH kinder...
Any opinion??

Thanks, applied Whampoa for PN already.  We are living in KL Tong and my parents are in Whampoa.  So ok. Trust it will be a good school as compared with Yew Chung.  I went to their orientation day, pretty disappointment.  Some parents immediately went for smoking after the seminar....

my boy graduated from LGV campus.  honestly speaking, the teachers there are amazing, though it is a small campus.  each teacher knows every child in school.  they changed headmaster a year before, she worked for Victoria and esf kinder, now the syllabus becomes a bit pushy but kids are still happy.  if u are looking for a warm and family like school, LGV campus is a pretty good choice, of course if u want a big family, then KT campus

Hi shrimppiggy, hi other mums,

It's me again, a new mum very interested in anfield!

I want to ask if I put my boy into anfield Kowloon tong starting from its PG/prep-Programme, will I get priority for entering its K1? My problem is my kid is born in Oct, meaning he won't be admitted into their first steps Programme for big babies at 2 year old. For the sake of securing a place, i actually wondered whether i should separately pay another $800 application fee for its whampoa nursery Programme just to ensure he can get into their Kowloon tong K1!! (I prefer kln tong for the long run)

Any views?

Hi Shrimpiggy, thanks for sharing the information, very useful indeed. My son born in late July 12, I might apply YC 2 yr class as they got whole day class.
Came across Anfield recently and pple say it was good.
But for 2 years class, only Whampoa provides. Checked with the school, seems that WP and KLT are two independent schools with separate management though under the same name. DO you know if WP is a good school, too? Worth to apply? Thanks in advance
