does anyone hear or attenting / attended  this school's playgroup? i m looking for a playgroup for my baby ... want to know more about this school but their web does not say much pls help if you know .....

In the end, I did let my boy attend the Sat playgroup at NCC.  I agree that the classroom is very small and barely enough for 5 parents and 5 kids to sit around.  In fact, I changed my mind to my husband attend on alternate weeks, coz his size wont fit into the classroom...  However activity in this classroom is just part of the whole 2 hours routine, so it's actually bearable to me.  Other times the kids can play in the playroom and outdoor playground where they can roam around to play.  As for the indian accent, honestly I think it's not that bad at all.  I am a English native speaker myself and the accent does not bother me at all.  This is the first playgroup I have attended, so I cannot judge its standard compared to other playgroups.  Honestly the teacher in this class is very friendly and nice, but I think the contents of the playgroup is a little bits and pieces, does not seem very organised, pretty adhoc to me, or maybe becoz I am a well organised person myself, and don't like very random contents.  However for my 14 mths old at this stage, I am not expecting a lot from a playgroup, most importantly is the chance for him to interact with other kids, play, enjoy himself, in an English environment.

honestly, i wasted more than $3000 already for this playgroup, i finally attended only 2 sessions with my boy.yes, true that so far most of them are positive feedback, even my friends think that it's not too bad, but then, i think the teacher didn't encourage any social interaction in my group, and the classroom size is so small that i don't think kids would like to sit still there... for the accent, well, i did hear strong indian accent... and hygiene, i'd say, OK, not too good, but not too bad...

but anyway, it's only my personal opinions...

Hi mosesmom, thanks for sharing different opinions!  So far, I have only heard positive feedbacks.  Nottingham has offered a place for my 13.5 mths old boy for the upcoming autumn term which takes up to end of Nov.  Since there is no trial class, it will mean a waste of money and time if it turns out to be a wrong choice.  I have requested for school visit but might not be able to observe anything close to how an actual class runs, maybe just the school environment.

What do you think of their hygiene?  And the indian accent issue, is it really that bad?

其實聽家長講NCC入面, MISS ANGEL是較出名的, 但她只教足兩歲的小朋友, 我囡囡都是兩歲起入讀, 由MISS ANGEL教, 我完全不覺佢有印度口音, 英文好清楚, 遇到生字還會特別慢些讀出來, 佢亦好鼓勵小朋友讀到生字出來的

i do think that the classroom size is very very small, kids can't move at all.. but maybe that's what they target... to have a more "disciplinary approach".. (which i don't agree, as having discipline doesn't mean to sit still and not move)
for the teacher to students ratio, i think it's OK, as 1 teacher + 1 assistant: 6 students (+ 6 parents)...

for the teaching quality, depends what you'd expected... i do think that the teachers are having "accent"...

no matter what, i suggest you go and have a look at the environment before enrolling any courses... apart from teaching quality, i do think that the environment and hygiene are really important in learning...

and heard that the classroom is very small??
and heard that they have lots of students per tutor ratio...
but i know many ppl say the quality of teaching is good.
so duno ...

just started the playgroup at nottingham this week for their summer term... honestly, was quite disappointed... the classroom was so small that it's so crowded to fit in 6 kids and 6 adults and 2 tutors!!!!!!!! and the air conditioning is also very poor that... can't tolerate at all...

and, i was so surprised that the activities were not really designed for kids at 1-2, and the tutors just walking around, and "blowing water"...  i guess.. the class fee will be probably wasted... as i probably wont' go anymore...

The class starts from 1 year old.  U can send enrollment form 2 months before the kid goes 1
