安柱中學高中准選修兩科

中 華 傳 道 會 安 柱 中 學 校 長 魏 樹 昭 指 ， 今 年 九 月 實 施 五 班 中 三 級 分 六 班 上 課 ， 以 及 容 許 中 四 生 選 修 兩 科 ， 提 高 學 習 效 率 。

　　(星島日報報道)為提升新高中學生的學習能力，葵青區名校中華傳道會安柱中學將於今年九月，將五班中三級學生，分六班上課，平均每班減至三十多人，變相實施小班教學，同時按中四生的能力，容許學生只選擇兩個選修科目，空堂則用作教授核心科目。校長魏樹昭希望藉此為能力稍遜的學生打好基礎，提高升讀學位課程機會。

　　隨今年舉行首屆文憑試，首三年新高中課程的成效亦一目了然。中華傳道會安柱中學校長魏樹昭估計，該校五成中六生可升讀學位課程，三成升讀副學士或高級文憑課程，餘下兩成雖有望全部科目考獲兩級或以上，或要覓其他出路。

　　有見及此，魏樹昭表示，該校去年率先將五班中四學生，分成六班上課，採用小班教學，「以該級二百一十多名學生計算，每班人數由超過四十名學生，降至三十多人」。魏樹昭透露，該校今年九月將此安排延伸至同樣為五班的中三級，連同中四級各分六班上課，以更有效由初中課程過渡至新高中課程。

　　該校中三及中四級分別轉為六班後，同時亦增加「留班位」數目，提高升留班準則。魏樹昭坦言，有能力稍遜的學生曾向他表示擔心「留班」，不過魏樹昭希望藉此提高學生的學習危機感。「現今學生少受挫折，即使資質不俗，學習毅力仍較上一代學生低，如果『留班』機會上升，或可鞭策他們更努力學習。」

　　安柱一直要求新高中學生選修三科，不過魏樹昭指，今年九月起，該校將按中四生的能力，容許五成學生只選修兩科，空堂則用作教授核心科目，即中文、英文、數學及通識教育科各可每周增加一堂。「大部分學位課程只要求學生選修兩科，因此提早讓學生按能力選修兩科，可令他們集中處理核心科目，增加升學機會。」

　　魏樹昭認為，新高中課程不只等於以往的會考程度，還加入高考的課程元素，加上文憑試考核學生整個三年新高中的課程，比會考及高考的內容多，認為不是每個學生都能應付自如，期望新安排更配合學生所需，學習更有效率。

　　至於師資安排，魏樹昭指該校參與「自願優化班級結構計畫」後，去年中一只開設四班，讓騰出的老師人手集中照顧分六班上課的中三及中四級。

我上次聽好似話有一半入大學都會好滿意, 宜家變左得返三份一? 警告下D同學仔要早D準備, 再遲多一兩年就想發力都太遲啦.

I guess QC, BPS and DGS are the front runner in HKDSE, so their admission rate will be the benchmark.
Schools with mixed curricular (HKDSE + IB, or GCE AL + HKDSE) are difficult to tell......

I didn't hear his full speech as my boy is in IB stream, I am not sure about his context. 2 years ago, I heard from Terrence that the 334 boys were more lay back, cf IBers, due to no more HKCEE and HKALE. Then he said the university admission rate will drop to around 60-65% (After double check with original message from Terrence, he said 60% is an excellent achievement).http://www.edu-kingdom.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=2339175&extra=page%3D6  I guess Mr Lau just warning them to work harder in HKDSE preparation.
36% is much lower than I expect even some boys shifted to IB stream.

After IB, some potential EAS students may go to IB, also some students aim for Ivy League and Oxbridge will stay in HK for IB (A couple of students went to London for Pre-U program last year, after a couple of months and back to DBS IB stream.), some boys may go for LPCUWC and HSCC after HKCEE will stay in DBS.

I don't know the actual split, but based on updated info from Mr. Lau, the % will be around 50-60% totally.

我都是DBS的家長, 但聽聞副校說(第1屆334) 我們的中六生最多都是18%的double, 即最多都只有36%可以入大學,
我聽後都感到好徬徨.

35% including postgraduates, not many Hk students want to study postgraduate, except MBA....
They are not paying full fee, as each student cost around HK$250k, their overseas fee only HK$105k for undergraduates.

我前日車兩個科大生返科大，同佢地傾幾句原來係內地同志不過係有錢既同志，人地係俾全費讀書，佢仲話科大有35％係內地或海外生，所以有好多本地生連宿舍都冇得住，連大學都向錢看，你話依架細路幾悲哀，明明有位讀，因為大學要錢就收咁多內地生，最好笑係聽到佢地話成績差就去外國，我就同佢講係就快走唔好阻住個地球轉，真係火都黎埋。

The same like old system only......

The EDB needs to blame, as some parents misled to think after HKDSE, their kids can go to university, but EDB didn't tell the true picture, no increase in university seats in new system even we spend more in tertiary education.

If 5 classes F5 and 3 classes in F6 for old system 5-2-3, so 50% in 334 more or less the same. Eventually, a good %.

In previous post, the principal of DBS also stated that only 60-65% university admission rate in 334, excluded IB.
