More advice from SFA parents please

Dear SFA parents,

May I have your advice on the following issues please?

1.  I heard that all students have ranking after the exam.  Is the competition spirit very high in the school?  (e.g. many students can get 90+ marks, and then losing a few marks will lead to big drop of ranking?)

2.  Do the teachers demand a lot on neat hand writing (both English & Chinese)?  (e.g. a little bit untidy will lead to lose marks in dictation?)

3.  While the school encourages kids to speak English & PTH to the teachers, in fact do most of the kids speak Cantonese instead?

4. For those parents of P3 or above, do you find any difference after the new principal joined last year?

5. I heard that there are more boys than girls in the school.  Will the girls be treated in different way?

6. Does the school have any special programmes that encourage reading and writing?

7.  Is the lunch provided by the caterer ok?  Do kids have enough time to eat?  And do they like the food in general?

1.  The exam result will show the ranking of each student. But we cannot know the marks because all subject show the result in grade only.

2.  Untidy may not lead to lose marks but I think neat hand writing (both English & Chinese) are needed to let the teachers ensure that your kids know how to write the words.

3.  My son said they speak PTH to Chinese teachers and English to English teachers. But not sure is it a rule in the classroom. Cantonese is speaking  between the kids.

4. I also want to know the answer because my son is P1 only.

5. Don't worry! Girls have more chance in SFA because the teachers are fair. Even the monitors are 1 boy and 1 girl in each class.

6. The school have library lesson on each cycle and give them stickers after reading in 閱讀城堡. Teachers also encourage the students to bring a book to read in recess and after lunch.

7.  The lunch provided by the caterer is OK. They have 50 min. for lunch.
