AISHK (Australian International) Interview

Hi all, my son is applying reception year in 2012 at AISHK (Australian International), he will be having an interview soon.... are there any parents here who can share with me about this interview?

A "small" boy at a traditional school would automatically become a "big" or at least "middle" boy at AISHK as they follow the southern hemisphere's school calendar. They admit children born between May of a year to April of the next year, e.g. if your child was born in November or December he/she would be in the middle of the pack.

How old is your son now?  I totally agree with you, so, it is going to be a big decision for parents.  My son is studying at local K1 now.  

I think it is not just hard for international to switch to local, it will be difficult for local to switch to international too.

yes, I'm thinking about that.. once he goes into the IS , it's hard for him to go back local school in some situation.

Your daughter is older than my son, my son is not even 4 yet, if your daughter wants to join the reception class, she should be joining in Jan 2012, and she will be a big girl in the class!!!  2013 should be prep year for your daughter.

No, she's old enough for Reception in January 2012, in fact, she will be one of the eldest in her class by then. Note that their school years start in late January, unlike all other schools which is usually August/September.

My boy is not yet four, I think we handed in the application form sometime early last year........  according to the website the application is valid for two years. Will you be enrolling your girl for Reception year in 2012? Or do you want her to do prep year instead of reception in 2013?

highfive, is your son fluent in English when he first started at AISHK?  If you don't mind sharing...  which school did he go to before he joined AISHK?

I guess it will be quite difficult for my son as he is not 100% fluent in English.  His listening is alright, but in terms of speaking, I really don't think he is good enough.  Hope he is lucky enough then....
