I don't buy the concept of using good athletic result to get into good school.
My son is playing soccer and a lot of his teammates got into DBS (in the past 3 years) due to their ability in soccer. They were studying in non 名校 before.
But honestly, most of them are not doing well at school academically. They did not get into the elite classes and school give priority to their performance in sports rather than academic.
I do think dedicating and performing well in a sports is good for kids, to train their sportsmanship, their persistence, and very importantly self-confidence. But we should not mix up sports performance as the step-stone for good school, and this is a wrong concept for kids too.
