我冇小朋友架!  屋企養左兩隻貓 :)

RWI D 教材係幫屋企人買既, 其實phonics 來來去去都係果44個音, 唔難~ 不過要有耐性.  我覺得做得家長都有無比耐性, 所以唔會太難.  一套工具書, flash cards, 相關故事書, 同正確phonics sound 既mp3 file, 自己記熟左, 掌握到發音, 再傳授比小朋友.

are they still learning individual sounds?
did they learn blending some words?

I'm interested in RWI course as well. Does your kid join any course or taught by yourself? If attending class at centre, any recommendation? I only know 'ABX Pathxxx' & 'Kiddxxxxx'
Thanks

There are four partners offering RWI courses. You may refer to RWI Official website for details:

Jolly Phonics cover 42 phonics and RWI covers all 44.

Most UK primary schools use RWI.  I have most of the course materials and I find them quite useful and easy for children to understand.

RWI

I think phonics enables a basic understanding of the sounds of letters and groups of letters, blending and segmenting, which can improve a learner's ability to recognise or reproduce a word.

However, it doesn't really address stress and intonation. These can be learned by listening to the speech pattern of someone who speaks fluently. Word stress can also be found in dictionaries, if you're able to read IPA. The syllable that carries the stress is identified by a '.

Connected speech comes with a much higher level of fluency, as some sounds are omitted and others are added to make the words flow. For instance, in connected speech when you say 'You are' a /w/ sound appears between 'You' and 'are'. When you say 'I don't know' the /t/ is not pronounced.

Do they focus on the spelling patterns ? Can RWI cover stress, intonation, linking etc? I have no idea how to learn the continuous stream of connected speech indeed. Thanks for sharing.
