I;m not saying having private tutorial is good nor spending so much for private tuitions are healthy. I myself do not buy this too. I just want to show the situation (trend of attending tutorials) in many band one schools, in fact in many secondary schools too. No offense ... really sorry!
Of course one has to consider many factors when choosing a school like family income, school culture etc.
If you want them to interact with more "not-so-wealthy" classmates / from the grassroots, it is true that choosing govt aided/ subsidised schools are better than DSS schools.
Both ghs and HF are good schools anyway!

talking about private tutition / tutorial class .... it is a trend now in all secondary schools (esp band 1 school) {May be starting from primary school now?!). You will be suprised of how many tutorial class the sec school students attend. Far far more than what we did in the past!
My friend who owns a small private tutorial centre told me that her students mainly come from those famous band 1 schools. And for an extreme case, a boy from a top band one school even took sick leave for a week to attend the private tuition lessons for exam preparation!!!!

Syllabus of the school is very difficult, but the teachers do not teach much and they expect you to spend a lot of money on private tuition. The teachers are not caring as well. That’s why the school results have been going down. If you willing to spend so expensive school fees, you’d better consider Heep Yuan
I selected HF (KT) for my daughter and rejected GH as well. Except the school ranking, I considered the location & school expectation. My daughter is quite active, she love Gym, music and drawing. I believe HF can provide more room for her to develop her own telent rather than pushing academic result. By the way, HF is more easy to pick up after having the after school activities.
